pay ,take,cost,spend 都能表示花費的意思。那麼花費時間做某事，和花費金錢去做某事，分別可以怎麼用，怎麼去區分。
pay ，cost 常常用來表示金錢的花費。但是 pay的主語是人。常用的搭配有sb pay some money for sth.例如： I haved paid three dollars for the book.我花費了3美元買這本書。cost的主語多是事和物。常用結構是sth cost sb some money/sth cost too much 或a little.例如：The dress costs me seven hundred yuan.這條裙子花費了我 700元。That house costs too much.這房子花費太多錢了。
take表示的花費時間。並且常用結構是，it takes sb some time to do sth.這裡用it 作為了形式主語。例如：It takes me one hour to do this homework.我花了一個小時寫作業。
spend既可以是花費時間，也可以是花費金錢。常用結構為 spend sb some time/some money on sth, 示花費多少時間，金錢在什麼東西上。或者 spend sb some time /some money （in） doing sth表，或者花費多少時間金錢做什麼事情。例如：I spend ten minutes on the housework.我花了十分鐘在家務上。I spend ten dollars on the tickets我花了是美元在這些票上。I have spent six dollars playing the computer games.我花了是美元玩這個計算機遊戲。Tim has spent two hours fixing the fan.Tim 花了兩小時修理這個風扇。
