1. a (great/large/small) number of 許多
a (great/large/small) number of接可數名詞複數；謂語動詞用複數。
eg.: A large number of students are ill these days because of the swine flu.
這些天許多學生都因為豬流感而病了。
2. A as well as B A跟B一樣
A as well as B謂語動詞與A一致。as well as可連接並列的單詞或短語。as well as與動詞連用時，其後可用V-ing形式，尤其as well as位於句首時，此時相當於in addition to。
eg.: It is unpleasant in summer as well as in winter.
夏天不好過，冬天也不好過。
eg.: As well as breaking his leg, he hurt his arm.
他不但摔斷了腿，而且還傷了胳膊。
as well as用於肯定結構和否定結構中，其意義不同。as well as和not搭配使用，as well as位於not前時，兩者均否定；位於not後時，否定前者，肯定後者。
eg.: George hasn't gone abroad as well as his brother.
喬治並沒有和他兄弟一樣出國去。（他兄弟一人出國）
eg.: George, as well as his brother, hasn't gone abroad.
喬治和他兄弟都沒有出國。
3. a bit of 一點
a bit of後接不可數名詞，相當於a little。
還要注意有些常用詞組，如have a bit of a cold（有點兒感冒）,「cold（感冒）」雖然是個不可數名詞，但習慣上要加a。
eg.: It was a bit of a bore, wasn't it?
這有點叫人厭煩，不是嗎？
我會巧辨析：a bit of 後接不可數名詞，相當於a little ; a number of 後接可數名詞；a great many of 後接限定語再跟名詞。
4. a bunch of 一束、一捆
a bunch of後接可數名詞複數形式。
eg.: He gave a bunch of flowers to his girlfriend.
他送給女友一束花。
我會巧辨析：a group of 一群；a great deal of 後接不可數名詞；a pack of 一包，一捆； a bunch of 一束，一捆
5. a copy of 一份（報紙等）
a copy of後接可數名詞單數．
eg.: A copy of China Today is on the desk.
桌上有一份《今日中國》。
我會巧辨析： a lot of 許多，後接可數或不可數名詞； a bit of 一點，是介詞短語，後接不可數名詞；a copy of 一份，後接可數名詞單數；a cup of 一對，兩，一雙。
6. a couple of 一對，兩，一雙，兩個
a couple of + n(c)．作主語時謂語動詞通常用單數，接可數名詞複數。
eg.: There is a couple of boys waiting for you.
有兩個男孩等你。
一些，幾個
eg.: He must have a rest for a couple of weeks.
他必須休息幾個星期。
