《拔呀拔呀拔蘿蔔》

老爺爺撒下種子種了一棵大蘿蔔，
但是蘿蔔太大了，
拔不出來啊，

Once, a man came out to his garden with his turnip seeds and his hoe.
He dug and he delved and he set his seeds in a row.
有一天，一個老爺爺帶著蘿蔔種子，
和一把鋤頭來到了他的菜地。
他挖地耕地，一排排的撒入了種子。
He cared for his seeds and watered them well,
and the turnip seeds began to…swell…
他好好照看了種子，認真澆水，
然後蘿蔔種子開始...…隆起。
In a very few days came little green leaves.
They poked and they pushed and they pointed.
The man with the hoe rolled up his sleeves…
在短短幾天裡就長出了綠葉來，
這些種子開始擠出土壤，
拿著鋤頭的老爺爺捲起了他的袖子……
He plucked out the weeds and raked off the rubble.
He didn't know there was going to be trouble.
他摳出雜草和碎石，
但並不知道他已惹上了大麻煩。
At last the turnips began to grow.
They got bigger and bigger and bigger.
And the man with the hoe said,
"So…we'll have turnips for breakfast and lunch and for tea.
And it's turnips for supper, too, thanks to me."
最後蘿蔔開始長出來了，
它們越長越大，越長越大。
那個拿著鋤頭的老爺爺說：
「所以，我們早餐可以吃蘿蔔，午餐可以吃蘿蔔，下午茶可以吃蘿蔔。
晚餐還可以吃蘿蔔，真是多虧了我」。
One of the turnips — the best of the lot — began to take over the whole of his plot.
其中的一隻蘿蔔，一隻長得最好的蘿蔔，
開始佔據了他全部的菜地。
It grew bigger and bigger every day.
It was huge.
It was vast.
It was…ENORMOUS!
The other poor turnips got out of its way.
每天，這個蘿蔔都越長越大，越長越大。
變大了，
又變大了，
更加大了...
其他可憐的蘿蔔紛紛給它讓路。
The man was baffled but he kept on hoeing.
And the ENORMOUS turnip kept on growing.
老爺爺開始困惑了，但他堅持鋤地。
然後那隻巨大的蘿蔔仍然在生長。
The man thought it must be time at last to pull the turnip,
but it just stuck fast.
"Come and help heave!" called the man to his wife.
老爺爺覺得是時候把這隻巨大的蘿蔔拔出來了。
但是蘿蔔卻卡住了。
「快過來幫忙把蘿蔔拔出來啊！」
老爺爺對妻子喊道。
The man pulled the turnip and the wife pulled the man.
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
老爺爺拔著蘿蔔，妻子在拔老爺爺。
但是那隻巨大的胡蘿蔔就是一點兒都不動！
"Come and help heave!" called the wife to a boy.
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife.
「快過來幫忙拔蘿蔔呀！」 妻子衝一個男孩喊道。
老爺爺拔著蘿蔔，妻子拔著老爺爺，
小男孩拔著老爺爺的妻子。
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
但是那隻巨大的蘿蔔呀！就是不動！
"Come and help heave!" called the boy to a girl.
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife, the girl pulled the boy.
「快過來幫忙拔蘿蔔呀！」
小男孩對一個小女孩喊道。
老爺爺在拔蘿蔔，妻子在拔老爺爺，
小男孩在拔老爺爺的妻子，小女孩在拔小男孩。
But the ENORMOUS turnip just wouldn't budge!
但是這隻巨大的胡蘿蔔呀！還是不動啊！

「快過來幫忙拔蘿蔔呀！」 小貓對一隻小老鼠喊道。
The man pulled the turnip, the wife pulled the man,
the boy pulled the wife, the girl pulled the boy,
the dog pulled the girl, the cat pulled the dog,
the mouse pulled the cat and …
老爺爺在拔蘿蔔，妻子在拔老爺爺，
小男孩在拔老爺爺的妻子，小女孩在拔小男孩，
小狗在拔著小女孩，小貓在拔著小狗，
小老鼠在拔小貓……
… the ENORMOUS turnip shot right out with a THUD!
and a THWACK! and a THUMP!
And they all fell back, with a …Bump…
……這隻大蘿蔔發出了一聲巨響！砰！
又一聲巨響！砰！
噗的一聲……他們所有人都打著滾兒的摔倒了。
bump…bump!
砰…… 砰！
The turnip is so good that they can't get their fill
and it's just so enormous ,they are eating it still.
這個胡蘿蔔好吃到停不下來，
還好胡蘿蔔夠大，他們可以一直吃。
