CMA initiated a level three emergency response to typhoon Dujuan
At 8:30 a.m. on September 27 (Beijing Time), China Meteorological Administration (CMA) initiated a level three emergency response to typhoon Dujuan.
At 8:00 a.m. today, Dujuan, the 21th typhoon in this year, was centered about 660 km east by south of Yilan, Taiwan province (22.3N, 127.6E) with maximum wind force scale 16 (55m/s).
It is forecasted to move west by north at speed of 15-20 km per hour with gaining intensity to approach northeastern Taiwan. It is likely to land in coastal areas between Jilong and Hualian in afternoon or night of September 28 and then get across Taiwan make landfall in coastal Fujian from morning to noon of September 29 with intensity of 30-35m/s.
Affected by the typhoon, in the next 24 hours from 14:00 today, there will be high wind with scale 7-9 affecting East China Sea, Diaoyu Island, Taiwan Strait, eastern and northern coast of Taiwan, east of Taiwan, Bashi Channel, and northeastern South China Sea. Parts of seas east of Taiwan will see strong wind with scale 10-13. As for rainfall, most parts of Taiwan will see heavy rain or rainstorm. Parts of northern Taiwan will be hit by severe rainstorm (100-200mm).
The related institutions under CMA and provincial meteorological bureaus of Fujian, Zhejiang and others are asked to enter level three emergency response state to try the best to provide good forecast and services against the typhoon. (Sep. 27)
