Friends學習筆記s01e01 (pilot) - Monica的新室友

這是我2009年開始在新浪博客上發布的Friends學習筆記系列的第一篇。八年多過去了，新浪博客終於讓我失望了。一次又一次出問題，不得已我只能轉移陣地，把二百多篇學習筆記手動搬過來，暫時先每天一篇。希望百家號儘快給我升級，讓我一天能發十篇。

美劇的第一集通常稱為pilot，試播集是決定整部劇生死存亡的關鍵因素。"Friends"的pilot首播時間是1994年9月22日。

首先來說一下這集中涉及的人物關係：

Ross和Monica是兄妹

Monica和Rachel是同學

Joey和Chandler住在Monica對面的公寓（Joey和Chandler是roommates）

Rachel的前未婚夫叫Barry Finkel

高中時Ross暗戀Rachel

其他人物關係暫時還沒有提及

各人的職業：

Monica - 廚師

Joey - 演員

Phoebe - 芳香療法師/香精按摩師

Rachel - 無業～咖啡館服務員（最後一幕）

Chandler還沒具體說到，但他提到了輸入數字

Ross還沒具體說到，但他提到了Aruba島上的蜥蜴

人物性格

Chandler

1. 沒什么女人緣

Monica在向大家解釋和Paul只是出去吃個飯，不算約會

Monica: It's just two people going out to dinner and not having sex.

Chandler: Sounds like a date to me. 我倒覺得是約會（可能Chandler跟人約會都這樣吧）

注意此處，很多字幕組都錯誤地把這句話翻譯成了「聽起來像是和我約會」↓↓↓

「和我約會」應該是"a date with me"；這裡的"to"是「對於」的意思。

2. 疑似gay傾向

大家在說Ross離婚的事，因為他前妻是同性戀，Chandler卻自言自語似的說：

Sometimes I wish I was a lesbian. 有時候我真希望我是（女）同性戀。

3. 愛搞笑

Ross繼續痛苦中，說：

I just wanna be married again.

話音未落，Rachel推門進入咖啡館，穿著婚紗，一身的雨，Chandler馬上接上一句：

And I just want a million dollars! 配合展開雙臂。。。

Rachel 富家千金大小姐

1. 事兒比較多

Monica認出Rachel後，咖啡館女招待問：

- Can I get you some coffee?

- Decaf. Monica接茬：「要不含咖啡因的。」

也可能是因為Monica見Rachel有點激動，所以幫她點了去咖啡因的。（2012年11月15日補註）

服務員端來了咖啡，Rachel話說到一半還不忘提要求：

- Sweet'N Low?

Sweet'N Low是代糖的一個品牌，包裝是粉色的。

2. 啥都不會幹

早上給Joey和Chandler端來咖啡，認為是很了不起的行為：

"Isn't this amazing? I have never made coffee before in my entire life."

二人淺嘗一口立刻偷偷地將剩下的咖啡倒進桌上的花盆裡。之後的一幕中，花盆裡的植物已經枯死。

Phoebe 苦孩子出身

1. 神神叨叨

Ross一進咖啡館Phoebe就給他"cleanse the aura"，去除晦氣。

在Monica家冷不丁冒出一句："I just pulled out four eyelashes. That can't be good." 我剛拔掉4根眼睫毛，肯定不是好事。

2. 唱奇怪的歌

Rachel逃婚後心情緊張，對著紙袋子吹氣，莫妮卡安慰她，要她想像美好、平靜的事物：

"Try to think of nice, calm things."

這時候Phoebe開始在旁邊唱：

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

Doorbells and sleigh bells and something with mittens

La la la something and noodles with string"

她是想唱電影《音樂之聲》裡的插曲，結果除了第一句歌詞是對的，其他都唱得亂七八糟的。所以Rachel趕緊喊停：I'm all better now. Phoebe還特高興地說了句：I helped.

正確的歌詞應該是：

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,

Brown paper packages tied up with strings,

These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,

Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles,

在地鐵裡賣唱時唱的歌：

Love is sweet as summer showers 愛甜得像夏天的陣雨

Love is a wondrous work of art 愛像令人驚奇的藝術品

is like a giant pigeon 像只大鴿子

crapping on my heart 在我心頭……拉屎……

吉他是瞎扒拉的，調子也是瞎哼哼的，不過這就是她的特色，還會繼續。

3. 有啥說啥

Joey問Phoebe晚上要不要去幫Ross裝家具：

Joey: You wanna help?

Phobe: Oh, I wish I could, but I don't want to. 我希望我能去，但是我不想去。

頗有女人緣

Rachel剛在Monica家安頓下來，Joey就去搭訕，把手一直放在人家穿婚紗而露出的肩膀上：

"You can always come to Joey. Me and Chandler live across the hall."

Joey經常換約會的對象，有時候都分不清誰是誰了，Chandler都比他清楚：

Joey: I got a date with Andrea. Angela. No, Andrea.

Chandler: Andrea's the screamer. Angela has cats.

Joey: Right, Thanks! It's Julie.

Monica

強迫症、控制欲

Monica和Paul約會第二天早上在走廊裡說話，Joey、Chandler和Rachel在屋裡偷聽，為了看得更清楚，挪動了門廳裡的小飯桌。Monica送走Paul，關上門進屋，被Joey調侃，叫他閉嘴之餘還不忘讓他們把桌子搬回原處："Shut up and put my table back."

多愁善感

形容自己離婚後的狀態：

"I just feel like someone reached down my throat, grabbed my small intestine, pulled it out of my mouth and tied it around my neck..."

我感覺像有人從我嗓子裡伸手進去，把我的腸子從嘴裡掏了出來，然後纏在我脖子上（窒息的感覺？）

典故

Rachel: ...I was looking at this gravy boat, this really gorgeous Limoges gravy boat.

Limoges

利摩日，法國地名，著名瓷器產區。全法國超過一半的瓷器都產自這裡。

1768年，在利摩日南30公裡的地方發現了的富含高嶺土的粘土礦，可用於製造瓷器。19世紀，利摩日瓷器變得舉世聞名，利摩日同時成為高級白瓷的代名詞。

Rachel: ...That's when it hit me: how much Barry looks like Mr. Potato Head.

Mr. Potato Head在《玩具總動員》裡出現過

幾個人邊看邊給瞎配臺詞的西班牙語電視劇叫"Tres destinos"。

Monica告訴大家終於要和Paul出去約會了

Chandler說："Oh, this is a Dear Diary moment."

Dear Diary moment 這一刻值得寫進日記，值得記住，略有諷刺之意。

後面s05e11裡會說到，Monica說Rachel做事不能持之以恆（跟我一樣），寫日記只寫了一天就沒再寫了。Rachel的日記是這樣寫的："Dear diary: I'm so excited. My resolution is to write in you every day. See you tomorrow." 第二天，nothing。外國人寫日記喜歡第一句寫下"Dear Diary"。

Ross: So Rachel, what're you, uh... what're you up to tonight?

Rachel: Well, I was kinda supposed to be headed for Aruba on my honeymoon, so nothing!

阿魯巴，位於南加勒比海的島嶼，荷蘭的海外領地

Rachel抱著婚紗看的電視劇是"Joanie Loves Chachi"。

Ross: Do the words "Billy Don't Be a Hero" mean anything to you?

"Billy Don't Be a Hero"是1974年的一首反戰歌曲，由Paper Lace演唱。

"Billy, don't be a hero! Don't be a fool with your life!

Billy, don't be a hero! Come back and make me your wife!

And as he started to go, she said, 'Billy, keep your head low!

Billy, don't be a hero! Come back to me!"

Monica早起出房間看見Joey和Chandler，說：

"Oh good, Lenny and Squiggy are here."

Lenny和Squiggy是七八十年代著名的情景喜劇"Laverne & Shirley"中的人物，經常自說自話不請自來地進兩個女生的公寓。

Paul在門外跟Monica說話

Paul: Thank you so much! I'm telling you, last night was like umm, all my birthdays, both graduations, plus the barn raising scene in Witness.

"Witness" 《目擊者》

1985年的電影，Harrison Ford（哈裡森·福特）主演。其中有一個場景是Harrison Ford扮演的警察John幫Amish people（阿米什人）蓋穀倉。

Frannie: Oh, I hate you. I'm pushing my Aunt Roz through Parrot Jungle and you're having sex!

鸚鵡叢林島，位於佛羅裡達州邁阿密市，著名的家庭旅遊景點。

最後一幕，Chandler又在和大家聊自己的夢："I'm in Las Vegas... I'm Liza Minnelli..."

Liza Minnelli

著名電影演員Judy Garland（1939年版《綠野仙蹤》中桃樂絲的扮演者）之女，涉足戲劇、電影、電視、歌唱等多個領域。昨天提到的2009夏季美劇"Drop Dead Diva"（《美女上錯身》）中，她扮演witch姐妹中的姐姐。在"Sex and the City"電影版第二集中，她扮演她自己。

文學

Rachel在Monica家裡給父親打電話，試著解釋她不想成為別人想讓她成為的人，不想和自己不愛的人結婚。她說她之前的人生都好比大家都說她是只鞋，她卻突然意識到她不想成為鞋，想成為皮包或者帽子（這比方打的。。。喜歡shopping的人啊），而她父親以為她想買新帽子。這時候Rachel有點急了：

"It's a metaphor, Daddy!" 爸爸，這是種比喻（隱喻）！

隱喻和明喻的不同之處在於介詞like出現與否。

美食

Rachel: ...I was looking at this gravy boat, this really gorgeous Limoges gravy boat.

西餐裡盛裝肉汁的器皿，當然了，當作結婚禮物的不會像下圖這麼樸素。老外烤肉剩下的湯汁都捨不得倒掉，加入葡萄酒後火上加熱熬至濃稠，盛入gravy boat，吃時澆在肉上。

Joey: There's lots of flavors out there. Rocky road, and cookie dough and cherry vanilla. You could get them with jimmies, or nuts or whipped cream.

Joey把女人比作不同口味的冰淇淋：

巧克力棉花糖、巧克力豆（趣多多餅乾裡的小粒巧克力）、櫻桃香草

外層可撒上巧克力針、堅果碎，澆上打發奶油

Joey: ...If you feel like you gotta make like a western omelet or something...

煎蛋餅，西式早餐。簡單說就是攤個雞蛋，將熟未熟時，在蛋餅中間鋪上切丁炒熟的青椒、洋蔥、蘑菇、西紅柿、菠菜、火腿、奶酪等，然後捲起，配烤吐司食用。

婚慶

新娘入場站定後，牧師說的證婚詞的第一句話通常是：

"We are gathered here to join A and B in the bonds of holy matrimony."

經典臺詞

Rachel忍痛剪斷了父親名下的信用卡後，Monica安慰她：

"Welcome to the real world! It sucks. You're gonna love it."

歡迎來到現實世界！（現實）生活很糟糕，你會喜歡的。

花絮

拍攝第一集的前一天，Joey的飾演者Matt LeBlanc得了流感，發燒到華氏102度（約等於38.9攝氏度）。

片頭六人在噴泉旁的那段是凌晨4點在Warner Bros. Ranch（華納影城北邊的一處規模較小的影城）拍攝的，當時溫度非常低。

Rachel坐在窗臺上到第二天早上給Chandler和Joey倒咖啡之間的過場畫面和音樂在9·11之後被替換。

因為擔心Monica在第一次約會就和Paul the Wine Guy上床這一情節會讓人認為她不太檢點，製片人特意在拍攝現場向觀眾發放調查問卷，詢問是否需要修改情節，而他們得到的答案是「不需要」。

畢竟，她也是被Paul騙了嘛，就連她自己被騙時都被嚇了一跳。
