毛澤東是讀歷史的，他是偉大的軍事家，思想家，戰略家。蔣介石是讀歷史的，他一生推崇曾國藩。當年明月是讀歷史的，他說我在現實生活中很少朋友，但是，我的內心無比強大。俞敏洪也是讀歷史的，讀古詩詞和古籍使他成為儒商。很多世界五百強的企業要求管理者必讀書目中包含了《三國演義》，《孫子兵法》，《曾國藩教子書》。現代社會，人心浮躁，賺錢為本，很少人，願意靜下來，讀一本古書。小鵬哥的一個美好願望是：一本書，一杯水，一個麵包，圖書館裡，過一天。這本書也許就是《曾國藩教子書》，《胡雪巖》，《蔣介石》。
【作家立場】
所謂教育，就是將人從一種無知的蒙昧的狀態中引導出來。教育者的職能遠非是將人訓練成為一流的考試過關的機器，或者，單純教授便於就業的技能。任何人，都可以在歷史學習中汲取成長的力量，大學生，無論專業背景如何，理應花點時間學習和歷史相關的知識。

歷史學習的利好：
1. 閱讀本身就是快樂的，學習本身就是一種成長。閱讀經典史書，無論是典故，傳記，還是語錄，都是一種開拓視野，豐富知識，增加文化底蘊的過程。
2. 很多精英，無論是文體明星，還是商業巨子，他們的成功的重要因素之一就是大學期間博覽群書，鑽研歷史。學習歷史不僅增強了他們的文化底蘊，更加教會他們以史為鑑，理性思考。換言之，他們不斷借鑑史書，積累成功的方法，學習失敗的經驗。當他們走出校園，搏擊商海，拓展事業的時候，從歷史學習中汲取精神力量幫助他們避免犯類似的錯誤，危機中做出明智選擇。
為何不學習歷史：
我承認，有人也許對於我的立場持懷疑態度。有人認為，大學所有專業的學生都被要求學習歷史也許不可取，因為不是人人都對歷史感興趣，歷史學習不一定對於每個專業的學生都有實際的利好。例如，對於植物學專業的學生而言，學習歷史可能耽誤時間，分散精力，因此，積累歷史知識對於未來的就業可能影響不大。但是，我想反駁的是：對於歷史學習的興趣是可以培養的，通過學習歷史獲得的精神樂趣，培養的辯證思維對於每個人的未來都是有利好的影響。
