一、interest用法
1. 用作名詞，注意以下用法：
(1) 表示一般意義的「興趣」「愛好」，為不可數名詞，但可與不定冠詞連用；表示在「對……的興趣」，其後通常接介詞in。如：
You』ve no interest in going with us?
你沒有興趣和我們一道去?
Scientists have taken a great interest in his ideas.
科學家們對他的觀點很感興趣。
有時可用複數形式，表示不同人的興趣或同一人的多種興趣。如：
Their interests are very similar.
他們的興趣很相似。
He has wide interests.
他有廣泛的興趣。
(2) 表示具體意義的「感興趣的事」「愛好」，是可數名詞。如：
My interests are music and travel.
我的興趣是音樂和旅行。
Gardening is one of my main interests.
園藝是我的主要興趣之一。
(3) 注意以下各句介詞of的使用：
The question is of great interest to me.
我對這個問題很感興趣。
He has been to many places of interest.
他去過許多名勝。
(4) 表示「利息」，不可數。如：
He paid 5% interest on the loan.
他借的貸款要付5%的利息。
(4) 表示「利益」，為可數名詞，但通常用複數。如：
He’s good at looking after his own interests.

2. 用作動詞，是及物動詞，通常以人作賓語。如：
Geology interests him.

His joke didn’t interest me.
他的笑話並不使我感到興趣。
表示在某一方面的興趣，與介詞in搭配。如：
He tried to interest me in football.
他設法使我對足球感興趣。
二、interested 的用法
意思是：感興趣的，關切的。如：
Are you interested in this subject?
你對這門課感興趣嗎?
注意區別：be interested in doing sth與be interested to do sth：前者表示對做某事感興趣，後者表示很想做某事：
I’m interested to hear your opinion.
我想聽聽你的意見。
I’m interested in emigrating to Canada.
我對移居加拿大感興趣。
三、interesting的用法
意思是：有趣的，令人感興趣的。如：
The idea sounds interesting.
這個想法聽起來很有趣。
I met a lot of interesting people on holiday.
我在度假期間遇到了許多有趣的人。
注意：其後接不定式且該不定式含有被動意義時，通常要用主動形式：
Volleyball is very interesting to watch.
打排球看起來很有意思。
四、辨析
interested 與 interesting：前者表示「感興趣的」，後者表示「令人感興趣的」「有趣的」：
Children are interested in interesting stories. 孩子們對有趣的故事感興趣。
