I』d like to talk about a special cake I』ve had before, it was a chocolate almond cake baked by myself.
I』ve always loved cooking but I had never tried baking until last summer, my cousin signed up for a baking and pastry class for both of us. I still remember it was a muggy summer afternoon in Shanghai, we went to the bakery store, where the class took place and spent a whole afternoon baking the cake.
It was actually not a hard decision to make when we were trying to figure out what to bake, after we told the pastry chef that both of us were crazy about chocolate, he strongly recommended his special chocolate almond cake, saying that if you were only tobake one chocolate cake for the rest of your life, this maybe it.
The most wonderful thing about this cake was its flavor and texture. Although it’s not super fancy,with multiple layers and a complicated filling, it has its own charm. It’sincredibly rich and decadent, we put sliced roasted almonds on the top as garnish,which also gave it a crunchy texture. The center of the cake is purposefully undercooked, so it’s quite fudgy and gooey. In a word, it was such an indulgence. And to be honest with you, we had never expected to bake a cake so successfully at the first time, it was totally surprising for us, that’s why we still remember the taste of it even now, even after so many days have passed.
