一般由主語＋謂語＋賓語，可能是英語中最常見的句型。在多數情況下賓語都用名詞或者代詞表示的。例如，I must say goodbye now. Did you say anything? Don't say that again. You've done a good job.
另外句子中有時動詞和名詞構成一種習慣用語，有其特別的意思。例如，They often played truant. The law will soon take effect. The baby often catch cold.
對於賓語可以是自身代詞。例如，Let me introduce myself. Pull yourself together,Hold your head up.
也有些動詞後面可以跟同源賓語，這時以同源的名詞作賓語。例如，I dreamed a sweet dream. He said his asy and sat down.
