As we all know, on October.8th, the Nobel Laureates in Literature has been announced. That particular winner is Louise Glück who was the first female poet who won the Nobel Prize in the 21st century. Unlike the other typical winner, she seldom shows up at public events or gives interviews to talk about her thoughts or the themes of her poems.
On the morning of Oct.8th, right after the announcement of the Nobel Prize, a reporter called and try to get an interview. She was reluctant to start chatting about the win 『cause she hadn’t yet had her first coffee of the day. After some negotiation, she agreed to give the interviewer 2 min.
When the reporter asked about what the Noble Prize means to her, she says, 「Mostly I am concerned for the preservation of daily life with people I love, It’s disruptive. The phone is ringing all the time. It’s ringing now, squeaking into my ear.」
