很多人記單詞都是死記硬背，導致出現邊背邊忘的情況。但是如果看電影的時候反覆出現，讓我們通過情節來加深記憶，會讓我們更好的記住這些單詞。往往查詞的整個過程就會耗費掉你所有的興趣。今天我們就來通過電影《神奇女俠》學習一些基本英語詞彙吧。learn with the clip
01cherish
vt. 珍愛
vt. 懷有（感情等）；抱有（希望等）
Worth cherishing in every way無論如何都值得被珍視。You go before a judge and you swear to love,honor and cherish each other.你在神父面前，發誓會愛、尊重和珍視對方。
史蒂夫第一次在小船上和黛安娜解釋「婚姻」的時候說的，cherish也常用於婚禮上的誓詞，我們經常會看到西式的婚禮上，神父都會問新郎新娘的一句話：Do you take XX to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love, honor and cherish, in sickness and health, until death do your apart? 你是否願意娶XX為你的合法妻子，愛她，尊重並愛護她，無論生病還是健康，直到死亡將你們分開？
02sword
n. 刀，劍；武力，戰爭
What if I didn't use a sword?要是我絕不用劍呢？Please put the sword down, Diana.You gotta put the sword down, Diana.Please.把劍放下，黛安娜。你得把劍放下，黛安娜，求你了Put the sword down, first of all.先把劍放下。
大家都知道在電影裡黛安娜有一把「弒神之劍」，並且隨身攜帶，印象非常深刻的是黛安娜拿著劍到處亂闖的時候承包了電影裡的不少笑點。劍的單詞是sword，那麼我們還可以記住一個短語 ：double-edged sword 就是雙刃劍（指對雙方皆不利的局面，或敵我不分的計謀）。
03sculp
vi. 雕塑；雕刻
I wished for you so much so,I sculpted you from clay myself.我太想得到你，我親手用泥土雕刻了你。My mother sculpted me from clay我的媽媽用泥土創造了我。
04clay
vt. 用黏土處理
n. [土壤] 粘土；泥土；肉體；似黏土的東西
I wished for you so much so,I sculpted you from clay myself.我太想得到你，我親手用泥土雕刻了你。My mother sculpted me from clay.我的媽媽用泥土創造了我。That one's not made out of clay.這個不是用泥土做的，你會弄傷她的。
黛安娜在第一次看到人類小孩的時候衝上去想抱一下的時候，被史蒂夫制止了。史蒂夫說了這句話，電影裡翻譯是「你會弄傷他的」，結合英語原句就是「這裡的小孩可不是用泥土做的，你會弄傷他的。」
05corrupt
adj. 腐敗的，貪汙的；墮落的
vt. 使腐爛；使墮落，使惡化
vi. 墮落，腐化；腐爛
But Zeus's son grew envious of mankind and sought to corrupt his father's creation.但宙斯的兒子對人類產生了妒意，想要去毀壞他父親的創造。Men are easily corrupted.人很容易就會腐化。Yes, but Ares is behind that corruption!是的，但戰神阿瑞斯就在一切腐化的背後。It isn't just the Germans that Ares has corrupted.阿瑞斯不光腐化了德國人。
corrupt這個詞很常出現在電影裡。最常見的意思是「腐化、墮落」，宙斯的兒子阿瑞斯使人類墮落，電影裡不止一次強調，即使阿瑞斯就在一切腐化的背後，他把人心中的「惡放大」，但卻阻止不了像史蒂夫這樣的人會去犧牲自己為了阻止戰爭。這就是人性的不可控性，也是我最喜歡這個電影的原因之一。
06retreat
n. 撤退；休息寓所
vi. 撤退；退避；向後傾
vt. 退（棋）；使後退
The God of War was forced to retreat.戰神被迫只好撤退。In case we need to beat a hasty retreat.為了時間緊急要逃跑，這也有人接應。
07wound
n. 創傷，傷口
vt. 使受傷
vi. 受傷，傷害
He could have died from his wounds.他可能早負傷死了。That man... He's wounded.那個人受傷了。
08compel
vt. 強迫，迫使發生
The Lasso of Hestia compels you to reveal the truth.真言套索會強迫你說出真相。I compel you to tell me the truth.我命令你說出真相。
09innocent
adj. 無辜的；無罪的；無知的
n. 天真的人；笨蛋
Innocent people.無辜的人。I cannot stand by while innocent lives are lost.無辜的人一直在死去我不能袖手旁觀。What kind of weapon kills innocents?什麼樣的武器會殺死無辜的人
10defend
vt. 辯護；防護
vi. 保衛；防守
I will not deploy our army and leave Themyscira defenseless to go and fight their war.我不會派遣軍隊讓天堂島的防守薄弱就為了去打他們的仗。It is our sacred duty to defend the world.保護世界是我們神聖的使命。If no one else will defend the world from Ares, then I must.如果沒人能從阿瑞斯手中保護世界，那我去。She should at least be able to defend herself.至少她應該能自衛。When Zeus led the Gods to our defense.當宙斯攜眾神來保護我們的時候。
defend oneself 意為自衛；申辯；自行辯護。說到defense，我們還會想到另一個單詞defence，其實這兩個詞的用法和詞義都是一樣的。區別就在於defense為美式，defence為英式。
11.armistice
n. 停戰，休戰；休戰協議
Von Hindenburg has recommended the Kaiser sign the armistice.興登堡已經建議皇帝籤署停戰協議。He will not sign the armistice.他就不會籤署停戰協議。an armistice.停戰協議The armistice is of paramount importance.停戰協議才是最重要的。I see you are negotiating the terms of the armistice without me.我不在的時候，你卻在協商停戰協議。Before the Germans sign the armistice.在籤訂停戰協議前。You cannot compromise the armistice.你不能破壞停戰協議。Sir, there will be no armistice...先生，根本不會有什麼停戰協議There's only an armistice.只是一份停戰協議。All I do is orchestrate an armistice, I know they cannot keep.我做的，只是策劃一場，他們無法承諾的停戰協議。
12.surrender
vt. 使投降；放棄；交出；聽任
vi. 投降；屈服；自首
n. 投降；放棄；交出；屈服
They will never surrender.他們絕不會投降。This is Ares, and he's not going to allow a negotiation or a surrender!這是阿瑞斯，他永不會協商或投降。
13.negotiate
vt. 談判，商議；轉讓；越過
vi. 談判，交涉
The only way to end this war... ...and restore world peace is to negotiate.贏得這場戰爭唯一的方法，重拾世界和平，就是談判。It must be negotiated, it must be signed, and this is...我們必須要談判，必須要籤署的是...This is Ares, and he's not going to allow a negotiation.這是阿瑞斯，他永不會協商！I see you are negotiating the terms of the armistice without me.我不在的時候你卻在協商停戰協議。
14.sacrifice
n. 犧牲；祭品；供奉
vt. 犧牲；獻祭；虧本出售
vi. 獻祭；奉獻
You would knowingly sacrifice all those lives.你要眼睜睜的看著那麼多人犧牲。A god that requires human sacrifice.而神需要人類的獻祭。
15.reinforcement
n. 加固；增援；援軍；加強
We're going to need reinforcements.我們需要幫手。These are the reinforcements?這些是幫手？
reinforce增援，加強，這個單詞有點難記，我們用拆分的方法拆成re-再 + in-入 + -force-力量 ，再一次注入力量，就是增援、加強的意思了。
16.gala
n. 祝賀，慶祝；節日，特別娛樂
adj. 節日的，歡慶的；歡樂的
Ludendorff is hosting a gala.魯登道夫要舉行一場宴會。Actually, the gala could be perfect cover.其實宴會很可能是個掩護。If I'm going to a gala, I'll need to know how to dance.如果我要去舞會，我就得知道怎樣跳舞。You're not going to the gala. - Of course I am.你不會去舞會。-我當然會去。
17.sway
vt. 影響；統治；使搖動
vi. 影響；搖擺
n. 影響；搖擺；統治
But these people are just swaying.這些人就是在…搖擺What did you call it? "Sway"?剛剛怎麼說？搖擺？Then you just sway.那我們就這麼搖擺。
18.capable
adj. 有能力的；有才幹的；容許……的；可以做（某事）的；綜合性的；有資格的
We all know Diana is capable of taking care of herself.我們都知道黛安娜能照顧自己。They have always been, and always will be weak, cruel, selfish, and capable of the greatest horrors.他們一直都是如此，而且永遠都會這般懦弱、殘忍、自私，天大的惡行都能幹得出來。
capable of sth/of doing sth =having the ability or qualities necessary for doing sth 有…能力的；可…的
