Doctors in the United States observed a four-fold increase in adolescent girls receiving gender transition surgeries from the year 2016 to 2017. In Great Britain, the increase in the last decade was an astounding 4,400%. In her book released in August, 「Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters,」 Wall Street Journal reporter Abigail Shrier investigates why.
Shrier’s book, which explores the phenomenon of many teenage girls suddenly and impulsively insisting they are now boys and how this affects their families and futures, has come under fire from transgender activists.
Unsuspecting parents are awakening to find their daughters in thrall to hip trans YouTube stars and 「gender-affirming」 educators and therapists who push life-changing interventions on young girls—including medically unnecessary double mastectomies and puberty blockers that can cause permanent infertility.
Coming out as transgender immediately boosts these girls』 social status, Shrier finds, but once they take the first steps of transition, it is not easy to walk back. She offers urgently needed advice about how parents can protect their daughters.
After launching her book on the Joe Rogan show, the famous American host reported great hatred. Several people said that her book invited to normalize hate speech towards transgender people.
Chase Strangio of the American Civil Liberties Union tweeted, 「Abigail Shrier’s book is a dangerous polemic with a goal of making people not trans. I think of all the times & ways I was told my transness wasn’t real & the daily toll that still takes. We have to fight these ideas which are leading to the criminalization of trans life again.」
The author denounced that she has been censored and has not been allowed to promote her work on a large scale, while she has been given publicity on topics that encourage contrary views. She also points out that some editorials have prohibited journalists from reviewing her research.
After a heavy backlash from the trans activists and boycotts from some retailers, these inversely sent Shrier’s book into the best-seller category on Amazon, including No. 15 in all books.
Some parents think, Shrier thoroughly pealed back the layers behind the transgender craze to reveal those civil and social institutions actively preventing such a state. As far gone as some may be, Shrier offers a message of hope for those who have gotten caught in the transgender craze’s mighty grip. Her call-to-action demands parents act now. The earlier they can stop their children from exploring a world they’re utterly unequipped to understand, the better they can address the issues leading them down that path.
