關於尷尬的那些事~
「尷尬」這個詞呢,一般在英文當中有兩種翻譯—Embarrassed和Awkward,兩者在含義上十分十分的相近,但是,仔細探究,兩者的差別還是很明顯的,今天Sherry就要具體講講兩者之間的不同之處。
embarrassed adj. 尷尬的;窘迫的
v. 使...困窘;使...局促不安
awkwardadj. 尷尬的;笨拙的;棘手的
embarrassed用作形容詞時,它一般形容的是很難處理或讓人感到羞愧的事件或事件。
awkward用作形容詞時,它一般形容的是缺乏技能或能力的人。
換句話說,
embarrassed是你自己感到內疚和羞恥,通常是因為你做錯了什麼事。
awkward是令人不舒服的社交場合的結果。可能會令你embarrassed,也可能不會。
舉個慄子:
The young boy was awkward playing the piano for the first time.
這個小男孩第一次彈鋼琴很笨拙。
The fundraiser was embarrassing for the organisers as only twenty people showed up to the event.

另外,需要注意的是一個人也會在embarrassing的情況下會感awkward。
