三、詞法精選
1．People have birthday cakes with candles.
人們吃帶有蠟燭的生日蛋糕。
(1)with意為「具有；帶有」，表示伴隨。如：
①China is a country with a long history.中國是一個具有悠久歷史的國家。
②The girl with long hair is my sister.那個留長髮的姑娘是我妹妹/姐姐。
(2)with還有「用；使用(工具、手段等)」的意思。如：
①We see with our eyes.我們用眼睛看。
②He is writing with a pencil.他正在用鉛筆寫字。
2．chicken and tomato noodles 雞肉西紅柿面
這是一個複合名詞，由名詞修飾名詞，前面的名詞不能加s，我們還可以用另外的表達方式：noodles with chicken and tomatoes或者chicken noodles with tomatoes。
四、句法精析
1．What kind of food would you like?
你想要什麼樣的食物？
would like＝want，意為「想要」，would為情態動詞，後面跟動詞原形。
結構：would like sth. 想要某物，would like to do sth. 想要做某事，would like sb.to do sth. 想要某人去做某事。
否定句：在would後加not, would not＝wouldn't。
一般疑問句：把would提前，Would you like sth.? 你想要某物嗎？這是禮貌而又委婉地詢問對方要求時的用語。肯定回答：Yes, please./All right./Yes./OK.，否定回答：No, thanks.。
Would you like some apples？是建議，some不用變成any。
2．—What size bowl of noodles would you like?你想要多大碗的麵條？
—I'd like a large bowl.我要一大碗。
what size 詢問尺寸、大小，「多大尺寸；什麼號碼的」。如：
—What size shoes would you like?你要多大號碼的鞋？
—I'd like size 38.我要38碼的。
a bowl of...「一碗……」；a big bowl of...「一大碗……」；a medium bowl of noodles 「一中碗的面」。
3．If he or she blows out all the candles in one go, the wish will come true.
如果他或她一口氣吹滅所有蠟燭，那麼願望將會實現。
if引導條件狀語從句，意為「假如；如果」。在複合句中如果主句用將來時，則 if 引導的狀語從句用一般現在時。如：
①If it doesn't rain, we will go to the park.如果天不下雨，我們將去公園。
②If I see him, I will tell him.如果我見到他，我將會告訴他。
4．In China, it is getting popular to have cake on your birthday.
在中國，你生日的時候吃蛋糕越來越流行。
此句中it是形式主語，真正的主語是不定式to have cake on your birthday。如：
It is important to learn English well.學好英語是很重要的。
五、語法精講
可數名詞和不可數名詞的用法
本單元的可數名詞：egg, apple, strawberry, orange, dumpling, drink, carrot, noodle, pancake
本單元的不可數名詞：rice，porridge, beef, mutton, juice, tea
本單元既是可數又是不可數的名詞：chicken，salad, icecream, cabbage, soup, fish, onion
可數名詞有單數、複數，可以用基數詞修飾，也可以用some, any, many等詞修飾；不可數名詞沒有單數也沒有複數，可以用some, any, much等詞修飾，如果要表示數量，可以用名詞短語。如：a bag of milk (一袋牛奶), two glasses of water (兩杯水)。
