1.初中英語教材中共出現近500個詞組，其中有一部分為常用詞組，要求能熟練運用。
2.在學習中，要注意詞組的積累，特別要注意介詞詞組和短語動詞的積累。
3.對固定詞組的意義，切不可望文生義。例如，動詞look願意為「看」，但look after意為「照料」，look up 除了意為「抬頭看」之外，還有look up (a word in a dictionary)意為「(在詞典中)查找(單詞)」。
4.要十分注意固定詞組中冠詞的使用。有時冠詞可引起詞義的變化，例如，go to school意為「上學」，而go to the school意為「到學校裡去」；take place意為「發生」，而take the place意為「取代」。有些詞組中需用冠詞，而另一些則不用。例如，in the evening, at night。
