1.24 Million 2007 University Graduates Will Be Unemployed

A total of 1.24 million Chinese university  graduates next year  will not be able to find jobs right after leaving school,Tian Chengping, the minister of Ministry of Labour and Social Security, said at a forum.

University graduates in 2007 will number 4.13 million, about 750,000 more than last year. If 70% is regarded as the initial employment rate, 1.24 million graduates will not find jobs.

Unemployed students can register their names at the related labor department. Employment training services are offered to help the students find jobs.

Tian Chengping said there are two ways to solve the graduate employment problem from a social security perspective. One is to create new positions with the development of the economy. The other is to encourage students to work at grassroots companies and underdeveloped areas by offering favorable policies. (編輯:趙露)
