國際足聯昨天宣布，明年世界盃賽將不會使用採用了高技術、並有助於裁判判定足球是否進門的「智能足球」，這一由阿迪達斯公司研製的新技術需要進一步試驗。

外電報導中的這句話對「智能足球」的性能進行了簡單描述：That signal is relayed by up to 12 antennae positioned in the corners of the pitch to a computer which then sends a message to a watch worn on the referee's wrist in less than one second.

翻開字典，發現pitch的意思有很多，報導中的pitch指的是「足球場」，除了pitch之外，「足球場」還可說成field。不同體育比賽的場地的說法還各有不同，比如，tennis court（網球場）,volleyball court（排球場），ring（拳擊場）等等。

此外，pitch還可表示「音調」，如high pitch（高聲調）。野外露營搭帳篷的時候，你還可以說，pitch a tent。
