《忠犬八公的故事》這部電影是一個日本真實發生過的事件，主要說的是一位大學教授收養了一隻名為「八公」的秋田犬，從此八公陪著教授全家一起成長，漸漸的成為了家裡不可缺少的一分子。
八公每天都會陪教授到火車站，送他上班，傍晚的時候也準時地出現在火車站門口迎接教授。可是突然有一天八公沒有等到教授回來，然而八公還是一直在那裡等候。
