學過初中物理的都知道，在一個大氣標準壓的前提下，0攝氏度的標準是冰水混合物，100攝氏度的標準是沸水的溫度。確定了兩個極值之後，把中間100等份就是我們確定溫度的辦法。在英語裡表達頻率也一樣，我們先來看看Always和Never的解釋，再去確定中間的Usually、Often和Sometimes。Always在朗文字典裡的解釋是all the time, at all times, or every time。這表明了always是一個表達總是的單詞，說always的時候表明了動作的長期不間斷的持續性。而Never的解釋是not at any time, or not once。表達了一種決不.永不.從來沒有的感覺。也就是說，如果我們用百分比來感覺的話，always是一種100%的頻率，never是一種0%的頻率。中間我們再來確定的就是Usually、often和sometimes了。Usually：used to talk about what happens on most occasions or in most situations.Often: if something happens often, it happens regularly or many times.Sometimes: on some occasions but not always.還是用百分比的方法來感覺的話，Usually基本屬於75%的頻率範疇，而Often則處於50%的頻率範疇，至於sometimes就是25%了。因為今天我們涉及到的這幾個頻率副詞在日常使用的頻率很高，所以，下面我們把這幾個單詞再深入了解一下先說always，always在語法裡有兩個需要注意的地方1、如果動詞不是be的一般式，always一般位於動詞之前，或第一個助動詞之後。這麼看有些繞，據三個例子大家就明白了。I always wanted to be an engineer.The British education has always been considered one of the best in the world.如果先前的狀態沒有變化，而且在說話的時候仍在繼續，要用still，而不是always，還是來個例子。He still lives with his parents.我們再來看一下關於always的幾個近義詞或短語的辨析People will always need houses.They decided to move to Portugal permanently.Marriage is supposed to be for life.One a species dies out, it is gone for good.Their deeds will remembered for all time.I』ll remember what he said to my dying day.這其中的含義辨析大家可以先感受一下，曉白會在線下課裡做詳細解釋。
Usually在字典裡有兩個含義接近的詞：generally和broadly。Usually: used to talk about what happens on most occasions or in most situations.Generally: considering or relating to the whole of a thing or group, rather than to details or specific cases or parts.Broadly: in a general way, relating to the main facts rather than details.這三個詞彙，我們用中文去理解區別就是：經常、總體上和大體上三個含義。這兩個單詞含義類似，主要就是在日常使用的時候一般說sth often happens或sth happens a lot，而不說it happens frequently。1.all too often/only too oftenUsed to say that sth sad, disappointing , or annoying happens too muchAll too often doctors are too busy to explain the treatment to their patients.This type of accident happens only too often.An inspector comes round every so often to check the safety equipment.3.as often as not/more often than not，【口語】通常More often than not the train is late.和sometimes區別的一個單詞是occasionally，首先occasionally的使用更書面，並且表達的頻率比sometimes更低，我們前面定義了sometimes是25%，那麼occasionally基本就是15%的感覺了。Sometimes, I wish I was still living in Tokyo.On occasions, prisoners were allowed visits from their families.We still call each other every now and then.Every now and again, an invention comes along which changes people’s lives completely.Even experienced doctors make mistakes from time to time.Every so often, a train whizzed past.The job can be frustrating at times.We only see each other every once in a while.1. At no time did anyone suggest that the drug was dangerous.在表達時間上的頻率的時候，我們除了日常在課本裡比較常見的詞彙以外，我們還需要注意的幾個詞彙就是fortnight、millennium還有every other day。
Fortnight的意思就是two weeks，兩周，或是說14天。說百年的century大家很熟悉了，而說千年的單詞就是millennium了。星球大戰中的千年隼就是Millennium Falcon。
