Respected teachers and dear classmates,
Good morning!
I am Zhang Haoming, from class C1805. It is a great honor for me to stand here to give a speech. Today, my topic is 「How to be a civilized student」. The topic is very old, but it isn’t old-fashioned. It is an eternal topic for students and schools.
What makes life wonderful? There are many different answers. I think life is wonderful because of civilization. So, how to be a civilized student? Let me tell you some of my opinions.
First, you must like learning. A civilized student is always full of desire for knowledge. He is an active learner in class and after school; he always asks questions, and he isn’t afraid of difficulties.
Second, you must be a polite person. He always uses polite words and keeps away from bad language. He knows if he wants to let others respect him, he must respect others first. It is equally important to respect others and respect themselves.
Third, you must have good healthy habits. A civilized student would consciously protect the campus environment. He would seldom buy snacks to eat at any time. He understands that it not only wastes money but also is bad for his health. He would not throw beverage cups, tissues, plastic bags and paper, he would pick up pieces of paper and other garbage instead. He knows the environment is everyone's environment and it is much better to leave a good environment to others and himself.
Fourth, you must be a disciplined person. A civilized student would put his things tidily. And he would comply with school rules. He would never be a noisy and disciplined student. He would not speak loudly to influence others.
Finally, you must be a caring and responsible person. He would respect teachers and students, care people and things around him; he would know how to thank others, thank parents and teachers…. He would not quarrel with the students and he would not fight with others.
Maybe you will disagree with me, but you can try. I believe that you will be a civilized student as long as you do all above. Let us get close to civilization, perform civilization, practice civilization, be a civilized student, and make a civilized campus together.
That is all for my speech. Thank you for your listening.
