授課內容:人教版必修三Unit2 Healthy Eating (Warming up and Reading)

Step1: Lead -in

T1:Class begins!

 Good afternoon, boys and girls. Let’s give our warmest applauses to the teachers here! Sit down, please.

T2:Today,our topic is 「Healthy eating」. (板書:Healthy eating)

  These are the learning objectives of this class.

1.     New words and expressions related to Healthy eating.(語言目標)

2.     Two different restaurants. (語篇目標)

3.     Have a better understanding of the relationship between a balanced diet and health.(情感目標)

T3:First of all, Let’s listen to a speech made by 李昌陽子。In her speech ,she will share with us Miranda Kerr’s way of keeping healthy. Let’s welcome her.

         (PPT呈現speech 的內容)

T4:Thanks for your speech. We have know how Miranda Kerr keeps healthy. She has realized the importance of having a healthy diet. What about yours? Here is a task. You should discuss the question of 「How to Keep healthy」 with your group members and share your opinions.

T5:Who wants a try?

Step2: Get students to know some knowledge about nutrients and what a balanced diet is.

T1: As we know, a balanced diet is of great importance to our health. Do you know what a balanced diet is. Look at the PPT. A balanced diet means a diet which contains various nutrients.

T2:We also can say a balanced diet is made up of energy-giving food, body-buildingfood and protective food. Energy-giving food is rich in carbohydrate,body-building food is rich in protein and protective food is rich in vitaminand mineral. There is also another kind of food, which is junk food. Junk food is rich in too much fat and oil.

T3:Let’s play a game. Here are some cards of food. You should classify them into these four groups. Four students are wanted.

Step3: Lead students to the reading text.

T1:I think you have a good knowledge of a balanced diet. Now, let’s go to two different restaurants. One is Wang Peng’s, and the other is Yong Hui’s. I will give you three minutes to read the passage .Then tell me which one you prefer.

(學生閱讀中)

T2:Of the two restaurants ,which one do you prefer?

S:Neither.

T2:Why?

S:Because neither provides a balanced diet.

T3:Yes, both of them have their own strengths and weaknesses, or you can say advantages and disadvantages Here is your task. You should talk about the strengths and weaknesses in groups.

T4:Let’s first talk about Wangpeng’s restaurant. The food served here is full of energy and tasty while it lacks vitamin and is too fat and oil, which can make people gain weight easily. What about Yong hui’s. Who can try?

T5:Good job, the food served in Yong hui’s restaurant is full of protective food and can keep people slim while it lacks energy, which can make people tired easily and the price is a little higher.

Step4: Get students to retell the story.

T1:We all agree that neither is perfect. Besides, a competition between the two restaurants is on. How was the competition going on? Please write a short essay.

T2:Let’s welcome 黃國宇to make a presentation.

Step5: Get students to get more familiar with the passage by raising their own questions. Be attention, at most 2 questions.

T1:I think you have got the general idea of the text. Do you want to know more about it?Here is a chance. You should not only answer my question: How do you think the story will end?」, but also you can raise your own questions about the text. Discuss with your group members.

T2:Whoever wants to share your questions writes them on the blackboard.

Answer1: Because people want to keep slim.

Answer2:Wangpeng did some research and wanted to win his customers back with a discount.

Q1:What happened to Wangpeng’s restaurant?

Q2:What did wangpeng find in the library?

Answer1:He found his restaurant empty with no customers.

Answer2:He found the food served in their restaurants is not perfect.

T3:What about my question? Predict the ending of the story. Any volunteers?

Step6:Get students to design their own menu and introduce their restaurants.

T1:The other day, I asked you to design your own menu. Do you still remember? Since you have known what a balanced diet is and Let’s appreciate your menus and check if your restaurants serve a balanced diet.

Step6:Get students to design their own menu and introduce their restaurants.

T1:The other day, I asked you to design your own menu. Do you still remember? Since you have known what a balanced diet is and Let’s appreciate your menus and check if your restaurants serve a balanced diet.

黃繼航:Look,this is the menu of our restaurant. A balanced diet is served here. And there are many different choices for you, such as fish, vegetables, soup and so on.If you come, I bet our restaurant will not disappoint you. Oh, good news only for you! 50% discount today! Only for you! Only for today! Come on, baby! I’m waiting for you!

T4:Should I go to his restaurant?

S:Yes.

T4:I think so.

Step7: Get students to understand an old saying 「You are what you eat.」 and get them to use the same pattern to make their own sentences.

T1:Look, here is an old saying, 「You are what you eat.」

T2:How to understand it?

S1:What you eat has a great influence on your health.

S2:If you eat healthy food, you will become healthy. If you eat too much junk food, you will become unhealthy.

S3:The food you have will decide whether you are healthy.

T3:I think all of you are right. Now, please make up your own sentence with the pattern. For example, 「 You are what you believe.」

S1:You are what you behave.

S2:You are what you think.

S3:You are what you have.

Step8: Homework. Get students to raise the awareness of having abalanced diet.

T1:For dinner today, whether you go to school canteen or go home to have dinner, you should judge whether you have a balanced diet and write a short essay. You』ll share with us in our next class. Got it?

S:Yes.

Step9: Reflection. Get students to check and review what they have learnt in this class.

T1:Let’s look at the learning objectives and review what we have learnt .

T2:We have learnt many useful phrases and expressions of healthy eating, such as abalanced diet, energy-giving food, body-building food, protective food,protein, vitamin and so on.

T5:I hope all of you can have a balanced diet everyday and keep healthy forever.

Step10. Get students to sing the song of 「Beautiful in white」to get relaxed and introduce my favorite line 「This day, I』ll cherish」.

T1:let’s enjoy the song of 「Beautiful in white」 and sing together.
