China's new dual-circulation development pattern will further unleash Qingdao's potential and allow the city to play a key role in the country's higher-level opening up, said Wang Qingxian, Party secretary of Qingdao.
In his signed article, Wang wrote that Qingdao will give full play to its unique dual role of opening wider to the rest of the world and driving economic development in northern China while shifting to the dual-circulation development paradigm.
Located at the eastern end of the New Eurasian Land Bridge, Qingdao plays an important role in connecting the East and West.
The new development paradigm takes the domestic market as the mainstay while letting domestic and foreign markets boost each other.
According to Wang, Qingdao, a developed city on the east coast and an economic powerhouse in Northern China that has economic, scientific and industrial strengths, plays a vital role in the integrated development of land and sea and intercity cooperation among areas along the Yellow River and member cities of the Jiaodong Economic Circle.
Located close to South Korea and Japan, Qingdao also serves as the eastern starting point of the New Eurasian Land Bridge and a hub city of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
"Through its land-sea transport systems, Qingdao is a pivot that connects the East and West," said Wang.
Qingdao, the bridgehead of Shandong province's opening-up to the world, will make full use of advantages and opportunities brought about by national strategies like the China-SCO demonstration zone and the Qingdao area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone to explore new room for China's economic growth and open its doors even wider to the world, he added.
