Five people are currently under investigation for leaking sensitive data on China's economy prior to its official release. Two have been identified as central bank researcher Wu Chaoming and a secretary with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) named Sun Zhen, the China Business News reported Wednesday.
According to Caijing Magazine, Wu Chaoming received his doctorate from Nankai University and is currently doing postdoctoral research in Beijing. Wu previously worked at the Financial Research Institute under the central bank and now serves as an assistant researcher at the central bank's research bureau.
Sun Zhen graduated from the University of Calgary in Canada. In 2007, he was recruited as a division-level public servant by the International Statistical Information Center of the NBS.
Over the past three years, data on major economic indicators including gross domestic product (GDP) and the consumer price index (CPI) have been frequently leaked to institutions before their official release date, allowing insiders to make profitable trades on the information. Earlier this year, China launched an investigation into the matter, which is still ongoing.

據《財經》雜誌報導，伍超明畢業於南開大學，在那裡他獲得了博士學位，目前在北京做博士後研究工作。伍超明曾供職於央行金融研究所，被調查之前任職央行研究局的副研究員。
孫振畢業於加拿大卡爾加裡大學，2007年從國家統計局國際統計信息中心通過筆試、面試等程序，錄取為公務員，為副處級官員。
近3年來，國家統計局發布的國內生產總值(GDP)、居民消費價格(CPI)等關鍵數據頻頻被機構提前曝光。今年早些時候，中國政府著手調查此事，目前調查仍在進行中。
