房子雖然是50多年前修建的，狀態還不錯。

一個美國人發推特說川普是個白痴，然後因涉嫌 「洩露國家機密」被FBI逮捕。
動詞，表「陳述，說明，聲明」
People will be invited to state their views on the plan.
將邀請人們陳述他們關於這個計劃的看法。
He stated that he had never been to the site of murder.
他聲稱他從未到過謀殺現場。
動詞用法的名詞形式是statement，表示「聲明，陳述」
The pop star hasn’t made a statement on what seems to be a rumor about his marital status.
那個歌星還沒有對有關他婚姻狀況的傳聞發表聲明。
我們談到衣品的重要性的時候，會說「衣如其人」，這句話用英語可以這樣說：
What a person wears makes a statement about him.
字面意思：一個人所穿的衣服發表了關於他的聲明。就是說，一個人的穿著打扮能夠體現這個人的品味。
如果在發表聲明之後又改變心意，還可以收回聲明，withdraw a statement.
【詞語辨析】
有的同學老是分不清楚state, country, nation三個詞，其實這三個詞雖然漢語裡都可以說是「國家」，但含義各有不同。
state側重指的是國家政權，state power, 所以「公立教育」要說state education,指的是由國家提供的教育資源。相同，國家機密要說state secret.
country側重的是「國土」，當我們使用country的時候，我們想到的是地理位置，是我們賴以生存的土地，所以更有感情色彩。當我們說「愛國」的時候，是love our country.
nation強調的是「國民」，當我們表達「發表面向全國的演講」的時候，就說make a speech to the nation，說一個人「舉國聞名」，是說ta被全國人民熟知，所以是enjoy nationwide fame享有全國性的聲望。
