Qingdao encourages more female entrepreneurs to start businesses and seek opportunities in the city, said Wang Qingxian, Party secretary of Qingdao, speaking at the Chinese Women Entrepreneurs' Qingdao Tour Event held on Sept 2.

"Qingdao is a beautiful, diverse and dynamic city with a sound business environment and competitive industrial foundation," said Wang. "We wholeheartedly welcome female entrepreneurs to start businesses in the city."

According to Wang, a more open, dynamic Qingdao will bring about tremendous development opportunities, and the city has been ramping up efforts to foster new growth drivers, further open up, promote greater innovation and offer efficient government services.

Qingdao is home to COSMOPlat, a globally leading industrial internet platform developed by Chinese home appliance giant Haier, which will contribute to the city's strategic goal to become the world's industrial internet capital.

Wang mentioned that Qingdao has the geographical advantage of linking the eastern and western regions. The China-SCO demonstration zone and the Qingdao area of the Shandong FTZ will also generate enormous opportunities for development.

He added that the city is also building a modern service center in northern China, which offers great cooperation opportunities for female entrepreneurs.

"Female entrepreneurs deserve particular respect," said Wang.

Female entrepreneurs face more difficulties than their male peers when it comes to maintaining a good work-life balance and dealing with prejudice in the workplace.

The seventh Congress of China Association of Women Entrepreneurs (CAWE) was held in Qingdao from Aug 31 to Sept 3, gathering nearly 300 female entrepreneurs. The CAWE has signed multiple cooperation agreements with Qingdao enterprises.
