1. Virus-hit Wuhan opens first TCM-oriented temporary hospital
Another gymnasium-converted makeshift hospital was put into use in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in central China's Hubei Province on Friday afternoon.
It is the first makeshift hospital fully supported by doctors and medical workers of traditional Chinese medicine, with a staff of 209 from 20 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals across five provinces.
"Traditional Chinese medicine and treatments have proved effective in curing mild cases infected with novel coronavirus," said Zhang Boli, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. (Xinhua)
武漢首個中醫方艙醫院投入使用
2月14日，湖北省武漢市首個中醫方艙醫院正式投入使用。負責該方艙醫院的醫療團隊由來自五個省份20家中醫院的209名醫護人員組成。
中國工程院院士張伯禮表示，前一段時間的治療經驗表明，中藥對於新冠肺炎輕症病人的治療確有療效。
2. United Airlines extends China flight cancellations to April 24
United Airlines will extend cancelations of all US flights to China until late April due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Following the announcement by Chicago-based United, all US passenger carriers flying to China have canceled flights into late April. Carriers say part of the reason is a dramatic drop-off in demand.
On Tuesday, American Airlines, the largest US carrier, also extended its suspension of China and Hong Kong flights until April 24. (China Plus)
美聯航暫停往返中國的航班至4月24日
美國聯合航空公司2月13日表示，受新冠肺炎疫情影響，美聯航將延長對往返中國航班的暫停措施，直至4月24日。
美聯航表示，聲明發出後，該公司所有飛往中國的航班已經全部取消。除受疫情影響外，往返中國機票的訂購數量大幅下降也是重要原因之一。
11日，美國第一大航空公司美國航空也宣布將停飛往返中國內地和香港的航班，直至4月24日。
3. Japan lets some passengers leave ship for quarantine on land
Japan on Friday began allowing elderly passengers who test negative for the new coronavirus to leave a quarantined cruise ship and finish their isolation in government-designated lodging.
Japan's government has given passengers aged 80 or older in poor health or confined to windowless inner cabins on the Diamond Princess the chance to move from the ship to accommodation on land. But only those who test negative for the virus have the option to move.
The move comes a day after the number of infections diagnosed on the ship rose to 218. (AFP)
日本政府允許部分「鑽石公主」號乘客上岸隔離
日本政府2月14日表示，將允許經檢測未感染新型冠狀病毒肺炎的老年乘客離開「鑽石公主」號郵輪，在日本政府指定的地點接受岸上隔離。
根據規定，80歲以上的老人、有基礎病的乘客、還有艙內房間沒有窗戶的乘客，在接受新型冠狀病毒感染檢查並確認沒有感染的情況下，可以選擇離船上岸隔離。
截止13日，該郵輪上共有218人確診感染。
4. Aussie state contains all bushfires for 1st time during catastrophic season
Firefighters in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) declared on Thursday evening that all fires across the state were officially contained, for the first time during the devastating bushfire season.
The south-eastern state was the most badly affected in the country, with roughly 25 casualties, over 2,400 homes lost and more than 5 million hectares of bushland destroyed.
Recent downpours have greatly helped the firefighters, although many areas are now facing the challenges of flooding and other storm-related damages. (Xinhua)
澳大利亞新州林火火情首次完全得到控制
澳大利亞新南威爾斯州消防局2月13日晚表示，此前肆虐該州的野火在當晚首次完全得到控制。
截止目前，發生在新洲的野火已經導致25人死亡，超過2400間房屋被焚毀，5百多萬公頃的灌木叢被付之一炬。新洲同時也是此次澳洲大火中受災最嚴重的地區。
當地消防局表示，澳大利亞東部沿海地區近日出現大範圍降雨天氣，極大緩解了當地的林火災情，雖然降雨也帶來了洪水和其他次生災害的威脅。
5. Growing bill to fix Britain's Big Ben
The bill to repair London's iconic Big Ben clock tower has increased by millions of pounds after the discovery of World War II bomb damage, pollution and asbestos, Britain's parliament said Thursday.
The cost of renovating the Elizabeth Tower housing the famous clock, which began in 2017, is now set to rise to nearly $104 million.
However, the efforts to restore the 177-year-old structure "to its previous splendor" remain on track for completion in late 2021, according to officials. (AFP)
英國大本鐘修復費用出現暴漲
英國國會2月13日表示，倫敦標誌性建築大本鐘鐘塔的維修費預計將暴增近百萬英鎊，原因是鐘塔在檢修時被發現遺留有二戰期間炸彈所造成的損傷，還有石棉類物質的汙染。
安置大本鐘的鐘塔名為「伊莉莎白塔」，擁有177年歷史。鐘塔整修從2017年開始動工，整修費目前已增至近1.04億美元。
儘管如此，英國當局仍表示，大本鐘鐘塔修復工作將按計劃於2021年底完工，屆時該鐘塔將重現昔日神採。
6. Boston Celtics will retire KG's number next season
The Boston Celtics announced a major decision: they will retire the No. 5 jersey of 2008 NBA Champion Kevin Garnett next season.
"I'm honored and thankful to have my number retired with the Celtics. I will always have immense respect and appreciation for ownership, Danny Ainge, Doc Rivers, my past teammates and Celtic Nation!" said Garnett.
In the 1995 NBA Draft, with the fifth pick, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected 19-year-old Garnett from Farragut Academy. (CGTN)

2月14日，NBA波士頓凱爾特人隊官方宣布，將在下賽季退役凱文-加內特的5號球衣。
