China Express Airlines, a low-cost carrier headquartered in southwest China's Guizhou Province, has been given the green light to launch international flights.

China Express Airlines, a low-cost carrier headquartered in southwest China's Guizhou Province, has been given the green light to launch international flights.

The airline has had its Air Operator's Certificate upgraded, enabling it to launch international flights from its main base at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport to overseas destinations.

The Chongqing-based carrier plans to launch Guiyang-Hanoi, Hohhot-Ordos-Ulaanbaatar, Beihai-Hong Kong routes initially. In the next stop, the airline will open more regional and international services to Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

China Express launched its first passenger flight in September 2006 and currently operates over 50 routes to 60 Chinese cities with 24 CRJ jets. It plans to build a fleet of 54 aircraft by end of 2018.
