W: I've had enough of this! I think you watch too much television. Let's do something different. Shall we have a game of cards with Peter and Jane?
M: You know I don't like cards.
W: Well, I don't like television. In my opinion they...
M: I know what you will say: All the programmes are full of violence and bad language, which is a bad influence on our children as the newspaper says. And you will say I never do our housework and I stay up till late because I spend much time watching TV.
W: Don't you think it's true?
M: Well, honey, it's not all true. It's very, important to watch the news. Very educational, too. And Eastenders is exciting. Television is cheaper than the cinema. Look,l've got an idea. Let's watch 15 minutes of the news, 15minutes of the football match, and 15 minutes of Eastenders. Oh, no...!.

M: Could you tell us a little about your job?
W: Sure. I have a blog called Hotel Motel.9We travel and review all kinds of places, from five-star resorts to tiny bed-and-breakfasts. Basically, I get paid to stay in hotels!
M: Sounds fun! What is your favorite type of hotel to stay in?
W: Oh, that's a tough one. I love beach resorts because everything is taken care of, and I feel like a queen there. But they are very expensive, and many of the other people who stay in places like that aren't interested in the local culture at all. I also love small hotels' that are run by couples or families. You get a totally different experience, and some of the best food and drinks, too! But those places can be hard to find.
M:I guess that's where you come in! Can you tell us about a bad experience you had at a hotel?:
w: well,I once checked into a room in Canada and found that the bed had not been made, and the bath room was completely dirty. When I asked the hotel staff about it, they told me that the room had just been cleaned. They said I had probably made the mess myself to try to get a nicer room without paying for it!
M: So, what happened?
w: When asked for my money back, they said no, of course. t was only when I started to call the police that they finally agreed.
M: Oh, that's terrible!
Text 8
M: Several months ago,a few big chain stores opened in town. They sold absolutely everything, and their prices were very low. Many small shops closed down, but Mr. Smith's small supermarket did not.13One of the chain stores owners was very curious. One day, he 1 dropped into Mr. Smith's supermarket and saw a middle-aged woman buying fruit. He asked her why she didn't go shopping in the big chain stores. Then the woman told him a story.
Three years ago, her son Tommy was in elementary school. One day when she was in the supermarket, Tommy rushed in and begged her to buy him a pair of sports shoes. She really wanted to buy her son the pair of shoes, but the money in her pocket was barely enough for a meal. Seeing no hope in his mother' s eyes, Tommy ran away.Suddenly, she felt someone pat her on the shoulder. 14 She turned around and saw Mr. Smith, the owner of the supermarket, holding the pair of shoes that her son wanted. Take them," he said with a smile. She shook her head. "I don't have enough money," she said. 15 " Your son can't wait, , the owner said, "but I can. Take them, and pay me later.
