Singapore's Land Transport Authority issued the country's first-ever code of conduct for pedestrians.

新加坡陸路交通管理局近日發布了該國首個行人行為守則。

Pedestrians are urged to stay away, if possible, from paths they have to share with cyclists.

行人被敦促儘可能遠離與騎自行車者共用的道路。

But if they must use these shared paths, they are advised to keep left unless they are overtaking another pedestrian.

但如果他們必須使用這些共用的道路，建議他們靠道路左邊走，除非他們正在超過另一位行人。

Another good practice the authorities want pedestrians to adopt is to refrain from using their mobile phones while walking on shared paths. But Francis Chu, co-founder of cycling group Love Cycling SG, said the pedestrian code of conduct was unnecessary.

當局希望行人採取的另一個好的做法是，在共用道路上行走時不要使用手機。

"Formalizing keeping to the left while walking can cause some aggressive riders to shift the blame to the victim in the case of an accident," he said.

He further pointed out that some pedestrians, such as the elderly and young children, may not be able to keep left and be alert at all times.

US President Donald Trump was abruptly escorted by a US Secret Service agent out of the White House briefing room as he was beginning a coronavirus briefing Monday afternoon.

當地時間8月10日下午，正在參加白宮新冠病毒新聞發布會的美國總統川普突然被特工處人員護送離開。

He returned minutes later, saying there was a "shooting" outside the White House that was "under control."

幾分鐘後，川普回到記者會現場說，白宮外發生了槍擊事件，情況已經得到了控制。

The president said the shots were fired by law enforcement, saying he believed the individual who was shot was armed.

The shooting took place near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, just blocks from the White House, according to local media.

Law enforcement officials were still trying to determine the suspect's motive.

The suspect was transferred to a local hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.

>Per capita GNI exceeds $10K

我國人均GNI破1萬美元

China's per capita gross national income crossed $10,000 for the first time in 2019, with its global ranking climbing up 70 places from 2000, National Business Daily reported on Monday.

據《每日經濟新聞》8月10日報導，2019年，我國人均國民總收入(GNI)首次突破1萬美元大關，全球排名比2000年上升了70名。

The country's per capita GNI further rose to $10,410 last year, higher than the average level of upper middle-income countries of $9,074 in the same year, the report said, citing an article by Zhang Jun, director of the International Statistical Information Center of the National Bureau of Statistics.

報導援引國家統計局國際統計信息中心主任張軍的話稱，去年我國人均GNI升至10410美元，高於中等偏上收入國家9074美元的平均水平。

China's per capita GNI was just $940 in 2000 and was classified as one of the lower-middle income countries by the World Bank back then.

2000年，我國人均GNI僅940美元，被世界銀行歸入中等偏下收入國家行列。

China's global ranking also rose to the 71st in 2019, up from the 141st in 2000, according to the World Bank ranking in per capita GNI.

根據世行人均GNI排名，我國全球排名已從2000年的141名升至2019年的71名。

China is expected to reach high-income status by 2027 and is unlikely to linger in the middle-income trap, according to a report by US investment bank Morgan Stanley, as reported by People's Daily Online.

據人民網報導，美國投資銀行摩根史坦利的一份報告稱，預計我國將於2027年達到高收入水平，且不太可能落入中等收入陷阱。

>7,831 fugitives brought back

反腐追逃追贓戰果豐碩

China brought back 7,831 fugitives from more than 120 countries and regions from 2014 to June this year, with 19.654 billion yuan in illegal gains recovered, according to a work report from the National Supervisory Commission, the nation's top anti-graft watchdog. Among them, 2,075 were Party members and State workers and 60 were on the Interpol Red Notice list of the 100 fugitives most wanted by China, the report said.

國家最高監察機構國家監察委員會的一份工作報告顯示，2014年至2020年6月，我國共從120多個國家和地區追回外逃人員7831人，包括黨員和國家工作人員2075人、 "百名紅通人員"60人，追回贓款196.54億元。

Since the launch of the commission in 2018, 3,848 fugitives and 9.911 billion yuan in illegal gains were recovered.

報告稱，自2018年國家監委成立以來，共追回外逃人員3848人，追回贓款99.11億元。

The number of Party members and State workers who fled abroad each year has dropped significantly, from 101 in 2014 to four last year, data showed.

每年新增外逃黨員和國家工作人員明顯減少，從2014年的101人降至2019年的4人。

Since 2014, China has signed 43 treaties on extradition, judicial assistance and asset return with 28 countries. The commission has signed 11 cooperation agreements with 10 national anti-corruption agencies and international organizations, according to the report.

自2014年以來，我國與28個國家新締結引渡條約、司法協助條約、資產返還與分享協定等43項，國家監委與10個國家反腐敗執法機構和國際組織籤訂合作協議11項。
