①review可用作及物動詞,意為「評介;評論」。

·The play was reviewed in the national newspapers。全國性報紙都對這部戲劇作了評論。

②revlsion用作不可數名詞,意為「複習;溫習」。

你覺得怎麼樣?

「How does that sound to you?"

相當於「What do you think of it?」,用於詢問對方對某事的看法。

—It\\\\\\\'s quite interesting. 相當有趣。

a bit of 一點兒

後接不可數名詞,相當於a little。

·He learnt a bit of Latin. 他學過點兒拉丁語。

mean doing sth. 意味著做某事

·This new order will mean working overtime. 這個新訂單意味著我們將要加班。

【辨析】mean doing sth. 與mean to do sth.

mean doing sth.

「意味著做某事」,主語通常為表示事物的名詞或動名詞(短語)

mean to do sth.

「打算做某事」,其主語通常為表示人的名詞或代詞

倒裝句

英語中以here/there開頭的且主語為名詞的句子需採用倒裝語序,句子的謂語通常為go,come等。

·There goes the bell. 鈴響了。

【注意】如果主語為人稱代詞,則不用倒裝。

·Here he comes. 他來了。

重點句型:

leave out省略;刪去

·Do not leave out common ingredients. 不要遺漏通用的配料。

a little 一點兒

·A little freedom is all I ask.

我要求的僅是點自由。

【辨析】a little, little, a few與few

little

修飾不可數名詞,意為「點兒;少許」,表示肯定意義

little

修飾不可數名詞,意為「少量的;幾乎沒有」,表示否定意義

few

修飾可數名詞,意為「些;幾個」,表示肯定意義

few

修飾可數名詞,意為「很少;不多」,表示否定意義

賓語從句時態:

1. 主句用  般現在時,從句可用任意時態。

2. 主句用過去時,從句用過去某個時態。

3. 主句用過去時,從句是客觀真理時,用  般現在時。

賓語從句的連接詞:

①從屬連詞

連接賓語從句的從屬連詞主要有that,if \\\\\\\'whether。

that引導表示陳述句的賓語從句,if和whether引導表示「是否」的  般疑問句的賓語從句。

②連接代詞

連接代詞主要有who,whom,whose, what, whoever, whomever, whosever ,whatever, whichever等。

連接代詞  般指疑問,但what,whatever除了指疑問外,也可以指陳述。

③連接副詞

連接副詞主要有where,how,why,when。連接副詞在從句中擔任句子成分,具有定意義,不可省略。

remind sb. of sb. /sth. 使某人想起某人/某事

·Does the TV show Dad comes back remind you of your father?

《爸爸回來了》這個電視節目是不是讓你(們)想起了你(們)的父親?

prefer v. 更喜歡;寧願

prefer用作及物動詞,其過去式、過去分詞、現在分詞分別為:preferred,preferred,preferring。

·I prefer Venice to Rome.

我喜歡威尼斯勝過羅馬。

·They prefer living in the suburbs to living in the downtown.

比起住在市中心,他們更願意住在郊區。

·I prefer to do hard work rather than do nothing at home.

我寧願乾重活而不願在家無所事事。

·I prefer you to come early tomorrow.

我寧願你明天來早點。

would rather寧願;更喜歡

would rather後接動詞原形,謂語動詞沒有人稱和數的變化,常與主語縮寫成』d。

·1 would rather have noodles than rice.

我寧願吃麵條也不吃米飯。

【拓展】would rather do sth.

than do sth. =would do sth.

rather than do sth. 寧願做某事而不願做某事

·I would rather do some reading at home than go shopping with them.

與其和他們去購物,我寧願留在家裡讀點兒書。

realize v. 理解;領會

·I hope you realize the seriousness of this crime. 我希望你能認識到這  罪行的嚴重性。

【拓展】realize用作及物動詞,還有「實現;將……變為現實」之意。

·She never realized her ambition of becoming a professional singer. 她從未實現成為名職業歌手的志向。

unknown v. 未知的;不詳的

·The man\\\\\\\'s identity remains

unknown. 這名男子的身份還是未知的。

【拓展】known為形容詞,意為「知名的;出了名的」。

·He\\\\\\\'s a known writer. 他是個出了名的作家。

the rest of其餘的……

既可修飾可數名詞,也可修飾不可數名詞。

·How would you like to spend the rest of the day?

剩下的時間你打算怎麼過?

common adj. 常見的;普遍的common作形容詞,意為「常見的;普遍的」。

·Jackson is a common English name. 傑克遜是  個常見的英文名。

【拓展】have sth. in common

意為「(想法、興趣等)相同」。

·Tim and I have nothing in

common. /I have nothing in common with Tim. 我和蒂姆毫無共同之處。

in the 1820s在19世紀20年代

·The last time the volcano erupted was in the 1820s.

該火山上  次噴發是在19世紀20年代。

in public當眾;公開地

·She doesn\\\\\\\'t like to be seen in public without her makeup on. 她不願意未化妝就公開露面。

【拓展】

①public用作名詞,意為「平民;百姓」。

·There  have  been  many complaints from members of the public. 現在已有大量的民眾投訴。

②public還可用作形容詞,意為「公共的;公立的」,作定語。

·This is a public library. 這是個公共圖書館。
