Tired of being subjected to wife's long-term domestic violence, Mr. Wang strangled his wife with a power cable and then took her body to the police station to surrender. But a miracle happened as police were taking his confession--the wife suddenly came back to life. Eventhough the wife didn't die, Mr. Wang was still sentenced to two years behind bars for intentional homicide.
Wang's side of the story
Eversince they got married, Mr. Wang and his wife lived a life of misery due to financial problems. The wife had severed relationship with her family just to marry him, but he can't make money and so they constantly fought over family and financial problems. Every time they quarrel, the wife would insults Wang calling him "useless". Apart from verbal insults, she would scratch him and sometimes beat him. Mr. Wang endured all this because he truly believes that it is his fault.
At about 6:00 p.m. on February 5 this year, the two quarreled again over financial issues. Mr. Wang felt that he could no longer accept the long-term abuse and domestic violence from his wife, so he had an idea of killing his wife. Considering that the children were at home, he asked her to go to the storage room with him to talk about this. After luring her into the storage room, he picked up a power cable and tied it around her neck stangling her.

A few seconds later, after seeing that his wife was no longer moving, he carried his wife's body to the back of his electric tricycle, and then drove to the police station located at Xuyi county PSB Industrial Park.
Wife's side of the story
When she woke up at the police station, she asked why she was at the police station and the police on the scene told her "Your husband wanted to kill you, but he is arrested now." They took her to the hospital for treatment and examination.
She later told the police, on the evening of February 5, she and her husband went to the underground storage room to talk about their issues. There she started blaming and insulting him, Wang became emotional and wanted to leave so she grabbed his neck.
According to her, she thinks perhaps she was too angry, plus her own serious hypoglycemia, she suddenly fainted. She told the police that as she was fainting, she felt that her husband was holding her clothes and thought he was preventing her from falling down. From her memory, she remembers he kept asking her "what's the matter?"
When she learned from the police that her husband was going to kill her, her first reaction was "it is not possible."
Even after hearing husband's confession, she pleaded the police not to investigate the case further and let him free. She defended her husband, adding that there were no severe consequences.
Final Decision
Considering the causes, nature and consequences of the case, the court reached to the conclusion that Wang committed intentional homicide. Wang's criminal means, surrender, repentance and other factors, including the fact that the circumstances are not severe were taken into consideration, but it will be inappropriate to exempt him from criminal punishment. So he was sentenced to two years in prison.
