形容詞比較級有以下基本用法。
一、比較級 + than。
舉例：
He is taller than I. 他比我高。（口語中可以用 me）
You should have told me earlier. 你應該早點告訴我。(在一定上下文語境中可以省略 than）
二、比較級前可以用 much, even, still, far, a lot, a little, a bit, slightly, completely, a (great/good) deal 等詞語修飾來加強語氣。
舉例：
This room is much bigger than that one. 這個房間比那個房間大很多。
三、比較級前可用 any 或 no 修飾。
舉例：
—— Have you any more? 你還有嗎？
—— Sorry, no more. 對不起，沒有了。
The train is no longer in sight. 列車再也看不見了。
四、more than 表示「多於」、「超過」、「不僅僅」或「不止於」等概念。

五、no more than（只不過，僅僅）, not more than（不多於），no less than（絕不止），not less than（不少於）。
舉例：
He has no more than five yuan in his pocket. 他口袋裡只有五塊錢。
He has not more than five yuan in his pocket. 他口袋裡不超過五塊錢。
He has no less than five yuan in his pocket. 他口袋裡絕不止五塊錢。
He has not less than five yuan in his pocket. 他口袋裡的錢不少於五塊。
形容詞比較級還涉及三大基本句型。
一、more and more 句型，表示「越來越……」的意思。
舉例：
The bubble is becoming bigger and bigger. 泡泡越來越大了。
He is becoming more and more active in his class. 他在班上越來越活躍了。
二、the more, the more 句型，表示「越……，就越……」的意思。
舉例：
The more haste, the less speed. 欲速則不達。
The taller he grows, the more handsome he becomes. 他越長高就越帥。
三、比較級用於否定結構表示「再……不過」的意思。
