二、用法對比分析
airplane是美式英語，英式英語是aeroplane [ˈerəplein]，有時候簡稱為plane。airplane具體指具有固定機翼（fixed wing）的飛行器（flying machine），如Boeing（波音）或Airbus（空中巴士）生產的大型民用客機（passenger airplane）。那麼具有旋轉機翼（rotator wing）的飛行器叫airplane嗎？答案是不能。如直升機就具有旋轉機翼，但只能叫helicopter [ˈhelikɑ:ptər]，不能叫airplane。
aircraft是一個集體名詞，包括所有類型的飛行器。如airplane（飛機）、helicopter（直升機）、airship（飛艇）、balloon（氣球）、kite（風箏）等。此時，有的朋友以為看錯了，氣球、風箏也算飛行器？揉揉眼睛，仔細再看，是的，你沒看錯，氣球、風箏也算aircraft（飛行器）。到了這裡就很明確了，aircraft包括了airplane，airplane屬於aircraft中的一款。
