英語中的The是定冠詞，被用來限定某個特定的事物。the用法之廣泛，可以說是無處不在。不少孩子也犯迷糊，分不清哪裡該用the，哪裡不能用。

特指雙方都熟悉，上文已經被提及。
世上無二僅獨一，序數詞和最高級。
山河海島建築物，姓氏複數奏樂器。
少數形表人一類，方位名詞須牢記。
其實，形象點講，the就相當於一個小警察，限定所指的人或事物是特定的，特指的，具體的。限定了有啥好處呢，最大的好處就是不會有歧義，不會有誤會，相當於是一個標記性的符號。
以下是定冠詞the的用法總結，一共11條。結合上面的口訣記一記，考試前輕鬆掌握！
1.定冠詞the用在單數或複數名詞前，特指某些人或某些事物，往往有限制性定語修飾。
你要的那本書 the book you want
桌子上的杯子 the cup on the table
2. 用在談話雙方都知道的人和事物前。
Look at the blackboard, please.
-Where is the football?
-It's under the chair.
3. 指上文已提到的人或事物。
I bought adictionary yesterday.
The dictionary is now on my bookshelf.
4. 指世界上獨一無二的事物。
The earth moves around the sun.
注意：space解釋為「太空」時候，不加the。
詞組：in space 在太空
5.用在方位名詞、序數詞和形容詞最高級前面。
The sunrises in the east and sets in the west.
Our monitor is always the first to come and the last to leave.
This is one of the most interesting novels I』ve ever read.
A. 方位詞成對出現的結構，不加冠詞。
e.g. from westto east 自西向東
B. 序數詞加the表示順序「第……」；序數詞加the，表示「再，又」。
區別：a second 再……，又……
the second 第二
C.當序數詞起副詞作用時，不加冠詞。
at first 首先
first of all 首先
come second 名列第二
6. 用在單數可數名詞前，表示某一類人或事物。
The bike is very useful.7.和某些形容詞連用表示一類人。
the rich 富人
the poor 窮人
the sick 病人
the unemployed 失業者
the wounded 傷者
the old 老人
the young 年輕人
the blind 盲人
8.用在專有名詞前。
A）在江河、山脈、湖泊、群島的名稱前
the Yellow River 黃河
the Yangtze River 長江
the Ural Mountains 烏拉爾山脈
the Himalayas 喜馬拉雅山脈
the English Channel 英吉利海峽
the Taiwan Strait 臺灣海峽
the Pacific Ocean 太平洋
the West Lake 西湖
the Philippines 菲律賓群島
注意：獨立的山峰除外。
e.g.Mount Tai 泰山
B）用在含有普通名詞的專有名詞前
the People’sRepublic of China 中華人民共和國
the White House 白宮
the United Nations 聯合國
the Great Wall 長城
the Great Hallof the People 人民大會堂
the Ministry of Education 教育部
注意：由拼音構成的專有名詞除外。
e.g. Zhongshan Park 中山公園
C）用在姓氏的複數形式前，表示全家人
The Greens will visitChina.
格林一家將訪問中國。

王家已搬到北京。
9.在only和same前，必須加the
the only child 獨生子女
the same…as 和……一樣
10.用在演奏樂器名詞前。
彈鋼琴play the piano
拉小提琴 play the violin
11.用在某些固定搭配中。
in the morning/afternoon/evening
在上午/下午/晚上
in the daytime 在白天
on the one hand …on the other hand…
