廣義的電子音樂簡稱電音，是由電子樂器和電子音樂技術組合而成。電子機械技術俗稱電聲（電吉他、電風琴等）與電子技術製作的電音是有區別的，後者主要強調電子製作、合成等。電音的歷史幾乎可以與西方音樂史相連。在60年代後期，使用電子技術製作的音樂逐漸普及。如今衍生的很多電子音樂流派，在中國也越來越受廣大RAVER的喜愛。

House起源於80年代早期的芝加哥，由當時芝加哥夜店駐場的DJ結合Disco與歐陸電子音樂而衍生出的一種風格。4/4拍的機械節奏，加上厚重的低音，再融入少許Jazz、Blues等多元素採樣。80年代後期，House從地下轉為主流音樂，不少樂壇明星的成名都與House有關。目前House已經發展出很多子類型。值得一提的是，已故著名DJ AVICII（艾維奇）是Progressive House的代表人物，Progressive House現已成為世界最熱門的House類型。

BASS MUSIC是一類電子音樂的統稱。這類風格的音樂特點是將低音作為重點，主要採用低音音色構成的電子音樂都是BASS。它們通常以低音線、Groove、頓挫的節奏感為核心。BASS MUSIC包括Dubstep/Drum and Bass/Future Bass/Darkstep/Glitch hop等非常多子類型。

Hardstyle絕對是小編最愛的電音風格。起源於「電音之都」荷蘭，是一種從Hardcore（硬核）演繹而來的電子音樂類型。Hardstyle為4/4拍，速度控制在150BPM，因為通常伴有低沉、堅硬的底鼓，因此已經成為電子音樂中最為狂躁、振奮的一種，喜歡Hardstyle的Raver被稱為「Warrior」（戰士），他們的現場稱之為「打拳」。一千個人眼裡就有一千種喜歡Hardstyle的方式，但請記住Hardstyle No.1。
