1. The reasons for the application must be true.
申請理由必須是真的。
You must ensure the reason with which you apply is true. When you need to extend it, the officials will see if the reasons are consistent.
您必須確保申請的理由是正確的。當您需要延期時，官員將查看原因是否一致。
For example, if you apply for a T visa on the grounds of preparing materials for company registration, you are highly likely to be asked to provide the materials and other proofs prepared when you apply for the extension.

2. Promises during the application must be fulfilled.

For example, if you promise to buy a ticket to return to your country during the next period of your T visa, you must leave on time. Or you will be ordered to leave within a time limit (normally you can only get a 10-day exit visa).

Although the staff who handle the processing at reception windows are different each time, the system will record everything you say when you apply. For example, if you promised you will try to return to your home country when applying, you can't state you want to start your own business in China when you apply for an extension.

3. Be careful to avoid visa expiration.

Once the visa expires, you will face a verbal warning or in worse cases mandatory departure. If your short-term visa is about to expire, you must prepare in advance, either leave the country in time or find a long-term plan to stay.
籤證過期後，您將面臨口頭警告，甚至在更糟糕的情況下必須離開。如果您的短期籤證即將到期，則必須提前準備，或者及時離開該國或尋找長期住宿計劃。
4. Short-term visa holders cannot stay for more than one year

Holders of short-term visas such as stay visas(T), business visas(M), tourist visa(L) cannot stay for more than one year.

For example, a 30-day stay visa can be extended up to 11 times. (This is theoretically speaking, in practice, the officials will barely let you stay for more than six months with a short-term visa)

If you want to stay for more than one year, you must apply for a residence permit.

5. Ways to obtain a residence permit

1) Find a local company willing to hire you and switch to a work visa and get a residence permit for work.

2) If you want to start a business in China, you can register a company and ensure legal operations.

You will be able to apply for a work visa as legal representative of the company and get a residence permit.

3) If you have Chinese family members in the country(Immediate family), you can apply for a reunion visa(Q).

4) Based on other urgent reasons you may apply for a residence permit for personal affairs.

You must prepare in advance with your short-term visa! Otherwise, there's very little we can do to help.
