01詳細用法
今天要介紹的英語知識點是hold back，我們先來看看它的語法結構和字面意思。
hold back是「動詞+副詞」構成的及物性動詞短語，後面可以跟sb或sth作為它的賓語（hold back sb/sth）。
動詞hold指「抓住、抱住、使保持在某個位置」，副詞back指「向後、在後面、回到原處」，hold back sb/sth的字面意思所反映的場景是這樣的：抓住某人/某物向後走、讓某人/某物保持一個向後走/走下坡路的狀態、讓某人/某物停留在原地（而不能前進）。
所以，hold back sb/sth引申為「拖某人/某物的後腿、阻礙某人/某物的發展」。因為hold back是「動副」結構， 所以當sb/sth為代詞時，必須把它們放在hold back的中間，即hold sb/sth back，如hold me back、hold it back。
先來看看sb作賓語的例句：
例句1：With the thought that having children would hold them back, some woman turn their backs on baby things.部分女性覺得生孩子會阻礙自己的發展，所以不考慮生孩子的事情。
turn their backs：表示「背棄、拋棄」最直觀形象的一個短語，快來拿走吧

如果要表達「阻礙/阻止某人幹某事、拖某人的後腿導致某人無法幹某事」，可以用hold back sb from (doing) sth結構。
例句3：My parents have done their best to hold me back from being with you.我爸媽不遺餘力地阻止我們在一起/我爸媽使出了渾身解數來拆散我們。
電影《遇見你之前》，癱瘓的男主角不想把女主角束縛在身邊，對她說了這麼一句經典臺詞：I don't want you to miss all the things that someone else could give you.我不希望你，錯過別人能給你的一切。
用hold back sb from (doing) sth結構，我們可以這樣改寫一下這句臺詞：
