卡朋特樂隊（Carpenters）是美國歌星理察·卡朋特和卡倫·卡朋特兄妹二人組成的演唱組合，1970年代和1980年代初期風靡一時。卡朋特兄妹於1965年開始組織樂隊，1969年11月15日，卡朋特樂隊的單曲《Close to You》（靠近你）一舉走紅，其後，他們在整個1970年代大獲成功。《Yesterday Once More》（昨日重現）、《Top of the World》（世界之顛）、《Please Mr. Postman》（請等一下，郵差先生）等歌曲廣為人知。
卡倫·卡朋特1950年生於美國康耐狄格州，從小在哥哥的影響下學習樂器，成了一名鼓手，大她三歲的哥哥理察是個非常有才華的青年，擔任鋼琴伴奏和製作人，並創作了大量歌曲。後來在著名經紀人德紐文的幫助下，進入了美國流行樂壇。1970年一曲《靠近你》（Close To You）榮登排行榜首，這使卡朋特一炮走紅。

在她已離開我們的這30年裡，卡倫的歌聲曾陪伴多少失意於愛的人度過了多少陰雨連綿的日子，誰也沒算過。這與其說是悲哀，不如說安靜地唱著：今天給大家推薦的是Carpenter（卡朋特樂隊）的《Top of the World》。第一次聽到這首歌是在《老友記》第一季第七集中，那個大停電的夜晚。當Ross在陽臺上被貓咪困住的時候，Pheebe、Monica和Joey在屋子裡點著蠟燭邊彈吉他邊唱歌，所以沒有人聽到Ross和Rachel在陽臺呼救（笑）。他們唱的歌就是這首《Top of the World》。

Karen在極為年輕的年紀離開了這個世界，在她的墓碑上刻著這樣簡單的文字：a star on earth，a star in heaven. 「A song for you」。三十多年後的今天，Karen的聲音還印刻在無數人的生命中：「and when my life is over， remember when we were together，we were alone and I was singing this song for you!」 她仍舊是鄰家那個嗓音恬美的女孩，和她的名字卡朋特一樣純樸。
