Anger takes up, crudely, two forms. The testosterone-fueled anger turns into aggression; the other one turns into self destruction.
Fran Lebowitz和Toni Morrison的對話。Lebowitz說,如果Fitzgerald能活到老,只會(在寫作才能上)越變越壞。Morrison說,可他寫了The Crack-Up呀。Lebowitz說,那是他死前寫的。那時他也才四十多。
The Crack-Up, Fitzgerald. 「vitality doesn’t take」. 有意思的一點: 向他preach vitality的人 - at the same time the one being mocked - 是個女人。
久野走進了教室。她還笑得出來 - 這一點震驚了星野。他在問題的另一邊。vitality doesn’t take.
在衝繩死過兩次,就不要再做三好學生了。Fuck it, you know. But she comes back. How could she? She still plays piano beautifully. Vitality doesn’t take. But how, why?
Hence the movie really is about this. The better lot of us keeps the music going, on and on. They are on the other side of the problem.
Still,
「It was the time for these questions:
Why am I me, and why not you?
Why am I here, and why not there?
When did time begin, and where does space end?
Is life under the sun not just a dream?
Is what I see and hear and smell
not just an illusion of a world before the world?
Given the facts of evil and people.
does evil really exist?
How can it be that I, who I am,
didn’t exist before I came to be,
and that, someday, I, who I am,
will no longer be who I am?」
