　　本片依據導演兼編劇謝米姆·薩爾弗所撰寫的自傳小說改編而成。
　　女配角之一的莉莎·瑞是印裔名模兼影戲女星，前作《水》更曾獲奧斯卡提名。
　　在傳統的中東的上流社會中，Reema和Omar正為他們的女兒Tala（麗莎·蕾 Lisa Ray 飾）準備婚禮。在倫敦工作的Tala通過朋友Ali認識了Leyla（茜多·塞絲 Sheetal Sheth 飾）。Leyla正努力成為一名作家，淳樸、笨拙而又敏感，這些統統吸引了Tala的注意。同時，Tala的坦率使得Leyla對自我有了真正的認識。她們相愛了，但是責任與文化道德牽制著Tala，她身不由己地回家準備著她那密鑼緊鼓的華麗盛大的婚禮。隨著家庭成員的拜訪和婚禮日子一天天的接近，Tala的壓力不斷上升。婚期一天天臨近，Tala如何做出人生的抉擇？
