繪本:《There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly》吞下蒼蠅的老奶奶

老外的想像力和幽默感真是一流的。《吃蒼蠅的老奶奶》的情節特別有趣，這是一本童謠書，老太太為了解決掉不小心吃到肚子裡的蒼蠅，竟然自作聰明地去吃蜘蛛，為了除掉蜘蛛，又去吃鳥…

故事結構循環往復，語言富於韻律節奏，讓孩子讀起來朗朗上口；情節簡單又誇張，充滿了來自民間的詼諧和糅合了傳統與現代的無釐頭式幽默！就是這樣的孩子般的無釐頭，可是很符合孩子的閱讀心理和閱讀水平。

這位老婆婆畫得太可愛了，眼鏡架在高高的鼻梁上，寬沿紅帽還插著一朵鮮花，圍著蘇格蘭風味的格子披肩，拎著手袋拄著拐棍，穿一身黑底彩塊兒連衣裙，真是一個時髦的老太太呢，和我們心目中的老太太形象截然不同。隨著吞下的東西越來越多，老婆婆的肚子越來越不一樣，孩子一邊看圖一邊能認識很多昆蟲，小動物，感受到裡外的概念，還能順帶著練習數數，挺好的。這本書那麼特別，就連疊加文字也生動有趣，作者手撕了許多彩條紙，用孩子般幼稚的筆體來寫字，另有一番情趣。

每進一隻動物，作者都會採用there was an old lady who swallowed的重複句式來表達，而且下一個要swallow哪個動物，作者在前面的偶數頁用圖畫的方式來暗示。

在新吞進一隻動物後，作者又會把前面的過程用這樣的句式重複一遍：She swallowed the 動物名詞 to catch 前一個動物的名稱.最後三句肯定是I don't know why she swallowed the fly.Perhaps she'll die.

蜘蛛、小鳥、小狗和奶牛都被老奶奶吞進去後，這隻蒼蠅還是沒出來，反倒是老奶奶的肚子越來越大，身體越來越臃腫！

最後，小馬horse決定去把蒼蠅和其他動物都抓出來，可是，蒼蠅還是沒出來，老奶奶死了，動物們很沮喪——他們真的很想幫老奶奶的啊！就連作者都哭了！

《There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly》的語言很簡單，每句話都有韻，聽起來非常有韻律感，而且，句式的重複度非常高，重點動物名詞的重複率也非常高，是一本非常棒的親子共讀繪本。
