英語書面表達在高考試卷中佔有較大的比重，然而，不少考生只是使用較簡單的詞彙和句式來寫書面表達，因而得分不高。高考書面表達評分標準提倡考生使用較多的語法結構和詞彙，所以高級句型的使用成為高中英語教師和考生普遍關心的問題。那麼，如何在作文中使用高級句型呢？
其實，我們可以把平時使用的簡單詞彙和句式稍加改變，就可以使句式更豐滿，表達更有力，從而增強文章的表達效果。
1. 使用高級詞語
隨著學生英語學習的深入，他們學到了一些較高級的詞彙和短語。這些詞語可以替換他們原來使用的詞語，因而使句子表達更地道，更達意。例如：
1）He spends all his spare time in reading. 用spend替換devote→
He devotes all his spare time to reading.

6）The products are very good and are sold everywhere in China. 用「be of + 名詞」替換「be+形容詞」→

2. 使用高級句式結構
除了一些高級詞語的使用，英語中還有一些特定的句式結構，比如，強調句型、倒裝句、從句等等，學生若能夠在書面表達中準確、恰當地使用，就一定能為書面表達增加亮點，使句式變新穎，語氣變強烈，從而提高書面表達的檔次。
2.1 非謂語動詞形式
1）Our school held an English contest to improve our English.
高級句式：In order to improve our English, our school held an English contest.
2）When he walked towards the cinema, he met a foreigner.
高級句式：Walking towards the cinema, he met a foreigner.
2.2 with複合結構
When the sun set in the west, we had to wave goodbye to the workers.
高級句式：With the sun setting in the west, we had to wave goodbye to the workers.
2.3 倒裝句
1）The library is to the east of the teaching building.
高級句式：East of the teaching building is the library.
2）He can grow to be a useful man only in this way.
高級句式：Only in this way can he grow to be a useful man.
2.4 強調句型
Our money is earned through hard work by our parents.
高級句型：It is through hard work that our money is earned by our parents.
2.5 定語從句
1）The flat is in a building on Fangcao Street. It is not far from Jianxin Chinese School.
高級句型：The flat is in a building on Fangcao Street, which is not far from Jianxin Chinese school.
2）Many boys learn to smoke. It does harm to their health.
高級句型：Many boys learn to smoke, which does harm to their health.
3）Taking exercise does good to our health.
高級句型：As we all know, taking exercise does good to our health.
2.6 插入語或者過渡性詞語
1）Mary is an honest and kind girl.
高級句式：As far as I know, Mary is an honest and kind girl.
2）We should not spend too much time in surfing the Internet.
高級句式：In my opinion, we should not spend too much time in surfing the Internet.
3）It rained heavily. We had to stay at the hotel.
高級句式：It rained heavily; as a result, we had to stay at the hotel.
4）I was lost at the station. It was getting dark.
高級句式：I was lost at the station; what's worse, it was getting dark.
2.7 並列句
1）This problem is too difficult. I can't work it out.
高級句式：This problem is too difficult so I can't work it out.
2）I want to buy this bike. I don't have enough money.
高級句式：I want to buy this bike, but I don't have enough money.
2.8 感嘆句
1）To prevent the pollution is very important．
高級句式：How important it is to prevent the pollution!
2）She is a clever girl．
高級句式：What a clever girl she is!
3. 普通句型和高級句型實際比較
在平時學習和考試的書面表達中，我們不難發現，兩種句型的不同運用的確會影響文章的效果。下面比較並仔細體會二者的差別：（以下比較中普通句型用「普」表示，高級句型用「高」代表）
1）電腦在我們生活中的作用是十分重要的。
普通句型：Computers are very important in our life.
高級句型：Computers are of great importance in our life.
2）我們都知道她是一個刻苦的學生。
普通句型：We all know she is a hard-working student.
高級句型：As is known to us all, she is a hard-working student.
3）我正在上網，這時門鈴響了。
普通句型：I was surfing the Internet. Suddenly the doorbell rang.
高級句型：I was surfing the Internet when the doorbell rang.
4）他考試沒通過是因為他練得少。
普通句型：He failed in the test because he didn't practice much.
高級句型：The reason why he failed in the test is that he didn't practice much.
5）作為志願者，我們不僅要懂英語，而且要熱情服務。
普通句型：As volunteers, we must not only know English well but also serve people warmly.
高級句型：Being volunteers, not only must we know English well but also serve people warmly.
6）說實話，你們必須努力，尤其你們要靠自己。
普通句型：Honestly speaking, you must work hard and above all, you must rely on yourselves.
高級句型：There is no doubt that you must work hard. What's more, you must rely on yourselves.
7）直到太陽落山我們才離開那個村莊。
普通句型：We didn't leave the village until the sun set.
高級句型：Not until the sun set did we leave the mountain village.
8）那時我幾乎不懂英語的重要性。
普通句型：I could hardly understand the importance of English at that time.
高級句型：Hardly could I understand the importance of English at that time.
通過比較，我們就能更清晰地看到高級句型的「高級」之處。
