導 言
「倘若圖像來源於觀看，源於有限取景框的眼力選擇，我願意成為圖像的拾荒者。手擒相機街頭掃射：鏡框內行人恍惚，宛若遊魂，鏡框內路人兀立站臺，各自為陣，似乎等待戈多的現實版本。再把鏡頭對準：不起眼的樹梢草叢，不起眼的雜物器件，不起眼的街頭巷尾……，再翻譯成睡眼中幻景，迷離的平面。」這是藝術家劉洵《劇照》系列作品的創作心得。
《劇照》夢幻般的畫面感讓人觸不及防，讓人迷失於美中，淪為藝術的囚徒。同樣令人茫然迷失而不知所措的還有他的《新文化》系列影像。其先鋒大膽的影像形式似乎是展覽館給觀者出的一道難題，它挑戰著每一個參觀者的審美趣味和視覺神經。
藝術評論
《劇照》系列乃劉洵近兩年來潛心打造的噴繪油畫。如影似幻的畫面，本源自於他從家鄉長沙街頭巷尾、樹梢草叢、雜物器件中像拾荒般用攝影鏡頭擷取的圖像，與從他搜集的電影資料中隨機抽取的圖像恣意組合。圖像被投射到畫布，而他只取輪廓，加以勾勒，再據以製作紙質模版，黏貼於布面，最後逐一施以噴繪而成。人間萬象，自然生靈，影視畫面，皆被製作成薄片般的投影，一則將三維現實擠壓成二維畫面，二則將塵世經驗轉換成夢幻之境，他本人稱之為「洞穴魅影倒映拾荒碎片」。
「拾荒碎片」之謂可以見出劉洵對外部現實的悲涼心態，因為在他看來，所面對的無論繁華還是蕭條，無論豪奢抑或貧瘠，在在呈現一種「廢墟」般的景象。廢墟不僅指城市化過程中產生的大量殘垣斷壁，更指人群精神、信仰、倫理之空虛荒蕪。「洞穴魅影」一說則來自柏拉圖之「洞穴喻」：生於洞穴的天生囚徒久而久之會將投射於洞穴的影像視為真實與本質。一俟走出洞穴，見著真實世界，反而會視之為非本質的虛幻，以致因將其帶入陽光下的人給他帶來「痛苦」而生出對他的恨意。

作品《劇照》系列
The 「Stills」 series are spray paintings created by Liu Xun in the past two years. The canvas is covered with fantasy images of shades and shadows, images originally captured by him from the street corners, bushes, scatters of objects in his hometown Changsha, like a scavenger, combined freely with randomly chosen images from the film materials. Images are projected onto the canvas, from which he only takes the silhouettes for further depiction, then makes into paper boards to be pasted onto the canvas, before spraying on the paint. Images of the earthly world, living things in the nature and from films are made into thin projections. The 3D reality is crushed into 2D images, while the earthly experiences are converted into dreamland. He calls these himself the 「Scavenge Scrapes reflected in the fantasies of cave.」
The 「Scavenge Scrapes」 shows somehow the pessimism felt by Liu Xun for the external reality, as in his eyes, be it prosperity or recession, luxury or poverty, everything presents an image of 「ruins」, which not only refer to the many ruins created through urbanization, but also the barrenness and void of people’s spirits, faith and ethics. 「Phantom in Cave」 comes from the 「allegory of the cave」 of Plato; prisoners born in the cave take the images projected into the cave as truth and substance of things. When they actually leave the cave and enter the real world, they see the reality as unreal illusions, so much so they begin to hate the person who brings them to the sun for the 「pain」 aroused.
