背景了解
電影《了不起的蓋茨比》，基本上還原了小說的內容，參軍的蓋茨比與大家閨秀黛西相戀。戰爭結束後蓋茨比回到家鄉，黛西卻已嫁給富裕的紈絝子弟，婚後並不幸福。蓋茨比傷心之餘，白手起家成為富豪，豪宅裡天天歌舞昇平，他無心舞樂只求黛西能夠出現，回心轉意。後來，黛西利用了蓋茨比的真心，害他慘死。蓋茨比去世後，黛西沒有出現沒有愧疚，反而與夫出遊歐洲。整件事情被黛西的表哥看在眼裡並記錄下來，他也因此看透了上流社會金錢至上的醜陋，決定離開那裡，遠走他鄉。
