這些年，我在滑翔傘領域做的翻譯不算多，但也不少。從著名廠商品牌的官網內容，「大神」飛行員的系列教程，獲授權的技術文章這類筆譯；到我喜歡的飛行影片或飛行員訪談的聽譯；再到一些飛行講座或飛行秀活動的現場口譯…… 如果要說讓我印象最深的翻譯，腦海裡首先出現的就是這部滑翔傘哲學影片。
BGD製作的這部影片，本是低階EN-B級傘Epic的廣告片。但在推出後，飛行員們反響熱烈，甚至包括很多不是飛行員的觀眾，大家都被片中英國哲學家Alan Watts 「You're this universe（你，就是這個世界）」的旁白所深深打動，認為這段描述精闢而唯美地呈現了滑翔傘飛行的精神世界。很多人發信息給BGD，要求貼出英文原稿。
Alan Watts，1915-1973，已故的英國哲學家、作家、演說家，以向西方觀眾解讀傳播東方哲學（佛家、道家、印度教、日本禪宗等）而為世人所知。是的，影片中是Alan Watts本人的聲音，他早已不在人世，但他的智慧仍然廣泛地被人們傳頌。

... So what has happened then is this,
that our eye is an illusion.
It's an image.
In seeing that you cannot control your mind,you realize that there is no controller.What you took to be the thinker of thoughts,is just one of the thoughts.What you took to be the experiencer of experience,is just part of the experience.Some people get a glimpse,that we are no longer this poor little stranger and afraid in a world it never made,but that you, are this universe.And you are creating it at every moment because you see it starts now.Now the universe does not come at us in lines.It comes at us in a multidimensional continuum in which everything is happening all together everywhere at once.You are not a puppet which your environment pushes around nor is the environment a puppet which you push around.They go together, they act together.You come to see that you can do nothing,that the play of thought, of feeling etc.just goes on by itself as a happening.Then you are in a state which we will call meditation.And slowly, without being pushed your thoughts,And in that silence, you suddenly begin to see the world as it is...對這段哲理的翻譯，之所以讓我印象最為深刻，除了其本身的意境與韻味，更主要是的翻譯的難度。我並沒有足夠的中文功底來對它做同樣精闢而唯美的翻譯，只好自我安慰：Alan其實也是用的「大白話」在向西方人介紹東方哲學。
如果提煉總結一下，這裡的哲學意境大概跟莊子的「天地與我並生，萬物與我為一」相近吧，所謂物我兩忘，天人合一。
這些話聽起來可能比較抽象；但如果飛行員們想像一下在空中最美妙的時刻，應該是非常有共鳴的。當初翻譯時有幾處小地方不夠準確，現已重新修正過；當然可以有更好的翻譯，感興趣的朋友不妨一試。
我還想起我讀過的第一本滑翔傘教材《滑翔傘的藝術》，書中說，「成為飛行員的一個好的潛質是良好的空間判斷力，也就是說當你在三維立體空間裡運動時，你能夠判斷好距離、動作及方向。」 這與片中所說的「現在，萬物不再是線性地呈現，而是多維度持續不斷地湧現」恰好吻合。
Another useful attribute for a potential pilot is good spatial judgement. What this means is that you can judge distances, motions and orientations as you move around in three dimensions.

作為經常思考「universe（宇宙、天地、萬物、存在）」的小孩，我的很多愛好其實都跟飛行時的「冥想」狀態相似，比如疊疊木，扁帶，浮潛…… 它們都可以讓我沉浸在當時當刻，專注而無我，而只是一個「存在」。人類的英文是human being，如果我們更多追求這個「being」，也許會與自然更加和諧共生。
影片背後的故事還有一個：男女主角都是我的朋友，在拍攝時他倆是真正的戀人關係。女主角Signe出生韓國，卻被丹麥父母養大，從飛行的一開始，她就勵志成為最優秀的特技飛行員，為此她付出了很多，也收穫了很多，快樂、猶豫、傷痛、反思……她的故事，我在後續文章裡會做分享，對雄心勃勃的新手飛行員們應該有所啟發。男主角Karlis是BGD的測試飛行員，也是Signe的飛行啟蒙教練。
