Forbes magazine has released its annual ranking of the world's highest-paid actors for 2018, with George Clooney topping the chart, having pocketed an estimated pretax paycheck of 239 million US dollars during the 12-month scoring frame, ending June 1, 2018.
Trailing closely behind is 46-year-old WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who earned 124 million US dollars thanks to his roles in several blockbusters including "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle." His huge social media following further padded his wallet.
Robert Downey Jr., whose role as "Iron Man" largely added to his international fame, came in third, followed by Chris Hemsworth (64.5 million US dollars), known for his signature golden locks and starring role in "Thor."
Action star and director Jackie Chan was the only Chinese actor to make it to the list, ranking fifth after starring in six movies last year, including "The Foreigner," and cashing in from an array of endorsements and his own cinema chain.

Founded in 2013 by Clooney and two of his friends Rande Gerber and real estate tycoon Mike Meldman, the brand was purchased for up to one billion US dollars with 700 million US dollars in upfront payment and a potential 300 million extra over the next decade. Besides income from the acquisition, which was proved to his biggest salary bump, Clooney also drew cash from his endorsements and older movies.

對比榜單，《福布斯》報導特別強調，全球最高薪男女演員收入水平存在較大差異。本次榜單中排名前十位的男演員累計收入為7.485億美元，而女演員僅為1.86億美元。報導稱，除性別原因外，造成收入差距的部分原因還在於，相較女演員，男演員更容易獲得回報率高的系列劇集及動作電影青睞。
The ten highest-paid actors tallied altogether 748.5 million US dollars, far surpassing that of their female counterparts, which only added up to a cumulative 186 million US dollars in the same scoring frame. A shortage of opportunities in high-profitable long-running franchises or action movies has been one of the reasons behind the discrepancy, according to Forbes.
