又到聖誕節了，這可是一年中小朋友最開心的節日，因為可以收到聖誕禮物，這也是聖誕老人休息了一年最忙的時候，因為他要給小朋友們派送禮物呀。可是聖誕老人已經派了幾百年的聖誕禮物，他的年紀很老了，今年啊，聖誕老人覺得自己已經走不動了，也爬不上煙囪了，他想退休啦。可是如果聖誕節沒有聖誕老人派禮物，那些滿懷期待了一年的小朋友會非常失落啊，怎麼辦呢？在聖誕老人的身邊，有一隻聖誕小精靈，要不就讓聖誕小精靈來接替聖誕老人，在聖誕節為小朋友派禮物吧。
可是聖誕小精靈從來都沒有派送過禮物，要怎麼做呢？聖誕老人把他這麼多年的經驗告訴聖誕小精靈，其實並不難。每個小朋友在聖誕節之前都會許下願望今年聖誕節想要什麼禮物，只要細心地把每個小朋友許的願望記下來，再記下他們的名字，還有他們住在哪裡，門牌號是多少。到了平安夜那天晚上，再按照地址一個一個地派送他們願望清單裡的禮物，就可以了。
很快，到了平安夜這天，每個小朋友都在床邊掛上一個大聖誕襪，很早就上床睡覺了，因為他們相信，只有睡著了，聖誕老人才會來，第二天一睜眼就能見到自己夢寐以求的聖誕禮物了。
可是這年的聖誕節，卻出奇了。平安夜的第二天，也就是聖誕節這天清晨，整個城市的上空瀰漫著此起彼伏的哭聲。怎麼回事啊？原來昨天平安夜第一次派送禮物的聖誕小精靈把禮物全部都送錯了，有的男孩子想要機器人，收到的是芭比娃娃，有的女孩子想要公主裙，收到的是小汽車。所有的小朋友都覺得聖誕老人不愛自己了，所以沒有送給他們許願的禮物。
這可出大事了。無奈之下，聖誕老人決定開一個空中會議，他在城市的天空打開了屏幕，告訴大家：「孩子們，我是聖誕老人，我已經派送了幾百年的聖誕禮物。我老了，走不動了，也爬不上煙囪了，所以今年，我打算退休啦。今年接替我工作的是聖誕小精靈，因為聖誕小精靈是第一次在聖誕節派送禮物，所以昨晚出了一點小差錯。我知道孩子們有點傷心，沒有收到想要的禮物，但是不要緊，今天晚上，請孩子們再把聖誕襪掛在床邊，明天早上醒來一定會收到你們最想要的禮物。」整個空中會議中，聖誕小精靈都沒有出現，所以大家誰也不知道他長什麼樣。
其實在這一天，聖誕小精靈特別忙，因為昨天平安夜的禮物都派送錯了，他一整天都在重新整理弄錯的禮物名單和地址，他必須要趕在聖誕節這天晚上重新再派送一次聖誕禮物。小朋友們聽了聖誕老人的話，不哭了，真的就在聖誕節這天晚上又早早地上床睡覺，期待第二天的驚喜。
到了聖誕節的第二天，也就是12月26日，很多小朋友一大早就起床了，去翻床邊掛的聖誕襪，真的呀，他們真的都收到了自己夢寐以求的禮物，每個小朋友都收到了。這次再也沒有小朋友哭了，而且整個城市的上空都迴蕩著笑聲。雖然禮物晚了一天，但還是收到了。
經過這次的大烏龍，聖誕小精靈已經了解了怎麼派送禮物效率是最高的，以後每年的聖誕節，派聖誕禮物的任務就交給他了，聖誕老人回到他美麗的家鄉去頤養天年了。可是聖誕小精靈到底長什麼樣子？還是沒人知道。如果你見過他，那就拍張照，或者把他畫出來吧。
