 Condolences pour in for #HughMasekela                                        

Durban -Legendary jazz musician Hugh Masekela has died following a long battle with prostate cancer.

Masekela had been battling cancer for 10 years.

The78-year-old music legend produced hits such as Stimela and Thanayi.

Masekela made headlines late last year, after releasing a statement where he said he is canceling future commitments and asked the public for privacy while he continues his battle with cancer.

 Ghana's President says the economy is back on track                  

Ghana’sPresident Nana Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, January 17 said, the country’s economy is rebounding and the major commodity exporter is poised to wean itself off bailouts through sustained fiscal discipline and a battle against corruption.

The former opposition leader, sworn into office a year ago, said his government spent the past year stabilizing the economy, including clearing huge debts while rolling out infrastructures such as schools and roads.

He also highlighted his government’s achievements in making secondary school education free for all.

"We have no choice but to educate and train our workforce to match the needs of the modern economy of the 21st century".

 Ex Nigeria president Obasanjo attains Ph.D., 11 years after office  

former Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday received a doctorate from the country’s National Open University (NOUN).

Obasanjo, who has twice governed Nigeria as a military ruler and democratic president, was among 14,769 graduands on the day. He received a doctorate in Christian theology having defended his thesis months back.

TheUniversity during its 7th Convocation in the capital Abuja also conferred in him Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Theology, thereby making the octogenarians first Ph.D. product, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.
