Wendi Deng, the former Mrs. Rupert Murdoch, appears to have a new type following her messy divorce with the billionaire media mogul, after she was seen earlier this week strutting around Paris alongside a new partner 17 years her junior.
Deng was spotted at the Paris Fashion Week Giambattista Valli show clinging to the arm of Charlie Siem, a young British contemporary classical violinist, Sina reports. Siem is just 30 years old, making him 54 years younger than Deng's tycoon ex-husband.
In fact, only a few days before, the 84-year-old Murdoch just so happened to get married again, for the fourth time, this time to 59-year-old former model and Mick Jagger partner Jerry Hall. The two were married in a private ceremony in London on Friday. Deng doesn't seem to have been on the guest list, but her and Murdoch's two daughters acted as bridesmaids at the ceremony.
Born in Shandong in 1968, Wendi Deng first met her future ex-husband in 1997 while she was working as an intern at the (formerly) News Corp-owned Star TV where she managed to catch the mogul's eye during a staff meeting.
At the time, Murdoch was still married to his second wife of 31 years, Anna Torv, but the couple soon separated due to her suspicions that her hubbie had picked up a new girlfriend. The divorce was finalized in June 1999 and 17 days later Murdoch wed Deng aboard a yacht in New York.
What followed was a rocky 14-year marriage that came to an explosive end because Murdoch believed that his wife was cheating on him with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair after one of his son's uncovered a diary of Deng's describing her infatuation with Blair and his "good butt." Excerpts from the diary were later published in Vanity Fair:
The couple reached a divorce settlement in November 2013, ending their relationship with a small kiss, handshake and the transfer of property rights.
But that's all in the past now, time moves on and true love begins anew.
