英語裡有很多好玩實用的習語，也就是我們通常說的「大白話」，這種非常地道的用法如果不知道他們真意，很容易被我們誤會。
今天我們就分享6組帶有「藝術感」的習語，每一句的意思其實都很簡單，也很容易記。
1 paint oneself into a corner
-把自己陷於困境中，沒有選擇餘地了那種。有點「自作孽不可活」的意思。

2 a picture is worth a thousand words
直譯的意思就是：一幅畫值得用一千個字來形容。
就是形容樣東西不能用言語表達，比如你旅行到某個景點，讓你無法用言語形容的美，就是這個短語的意思了。
也可以是表達某樣東西很糟糕，說是說不清楚了，自己去看吧，信息量太大。

3 paint the town red
腦補一下，如果把整個鎮都漆成紅色，那是什麼意思？是不是一種狂歡，瘋狂慶祝的意思？
所以，這個短語可以用在party啊，節慶日上，出去和朋友家人狂歡。
「You know, let's go out tonight. Let's paint the town red.」
4 "What's wrong with, this picture?」
比如你和朋友出去玩，突然有一堆人在旁邊看天空，就可以用這組詞。
意思就是，「這什麼情況？」
5 "Do I have to paint you a picture?」
嘖嘖嘖，不要對你的長輩和老闆說這句話，因為它帶有不耐煩的意思。
「還要我怎麼跟你解釋呀，真的是，說這麼多還不懂？」
6 like watching the paint dry
形容某樣事太無聊，比如某部電影很無聊，某個展覽很無趣...
"Don't you want to watch the football?" "To be honest, I would rather watch paint dry."
